upstate 8 i think might have 3 of the top 5 teams. SCN, Nequa, and Waubonsie all return quite a bit and with Derrick and Riddle combo, Waubonsie's tight pack led by the shumachers, Speare and Desilva with a good supporting cast. Alot of all staters probably will come out of this conference and will might be on the same calibur as the MSL on terms of strength and depth.
York always finds a way to win but i don't know if this is true but i heard whether newton liked it or not... they were throwing a retiremnet party this year. Will the dynasty continue without Newton?

Voted SCN... They're the current forerunners of a formidable group of teams with huge York-toppling potential (WV, NV, WN would be other unsurprising candidates).

I'm going out on a limb here, but providing no major injuries or something happening, and all of the teams put in the summer as expected i'm going with next year as:
1) Waubonsie Valley
2) Nequa Valley
3) SCN
4) York

Proviso East option?
I have a feeling that they will lose conference, but win state with a perfect 15. Anyone else agree?

Whats the scoop with York and their getting back to the Newton/Kerns suspension deal? Are they going to be looking into any sort of rebuttal, or is Newton retiring and Kerns unable to come back for a couple years? Or what?

I think kern is only out until the end of track. As far as i know, they will both be back for xc next year.

1) Waubonsie Valley
2) Nequa Valley
3) SCN
4) York
York brings back (3-5)
Waubonsie brings back (15-22-25-26-78)
Neuqua Valley brings back (2-7-50-62-66-88-118)
St. Charles North (9-11-35-75) but this does not include Morici who is one of their top 3 guys.
Naperville North (6-31-34-37-43)
At first glance it would seem like Naperville North is the only team who won't be struggling to find a 5th man who can break 15:30. In terms of weaknesses here goes:
Waubonsie Valley has a great pack of 1-4 but none of those guys look like elite runners. Their top returnee ran 14:59 and the closer you look at this team, the more they look like.....(drumroll).......this year's Sandburg team. 4 guys who all look like they could be hovering around 15:00 and a 5th man who is going to be busting his hump to break 15:30.
Prediction: (14:49-14:52-15:04-15:05-15:32) and that 5th man scores 80pts and doubles the team score. 160-180pts.
St. Charles North has an awesome 1-2 punch that keeps them competitive. If Morici can slip in ahead of Max Clink then St. Charles will put 2 guys in the top 15 and another two in the top 35. But that 5th returnee will finish around 15:25 after running 15:50 this year. (7-10-22-32-69)That 5th will stick another 60+pts onto the team score and SCN will score between 140-160pts.
Neuqua Valley has two frontrunners but that drop off between Riddle and the #3 may hurt. I don't think Pawola ran as well as he could have at the state meet. They will put two guys in the top 8. And I have a feeling Mike Ruff is going to be a stud and get down into the low 15's. The big upside it that the 4-5 guys are both sophs with a lot of room to improve. I think they will both break 15:20. (2-8-30-50-55) for a total of 145-165pts. Those frontrunners really help bring down the team score.
Naperville North just seems to be the most solid all-around team. Gibson could be top 5. And the 5th man has already broken 15:30. But that pack of 2-5 may not be far enough up in the field. They look great on paper but the 2nd best returnee on the team ran 15:18. That's a really good time. but not a great time, and I wonder whether or not they have the potential to even get two guys under 15. (score 6-28-34-38-48) for a total of 150-170pts
Yokr brings back 3-5 and I'm going to go out on a limb and make a few wild predictions. #1) Mark Talbot breaks 14:50 in his 2nd year of xc and becomes a very reliable 3rd man. Freshman Adam Cecil (who will be a sophomore) follows in Achtien/Sulkin's footsteps and runs at the soph level until the end of the year. He becomes the team's 4th man and runs 15:05. And York finds someone in the crowd to step up and break 15:15. They score 3-5-18-32-45pts for a total of 100-120 and win by a lot closer margin than anytime in the last 5 years.

I find it hard to believe that York could get 4th in the state, but this year it finally looks as if team's may be able to catch them a little. Then again, we said that at the beginning of this year with Sandburg didn't we, and how'd that turn out?

[QUOTE=Fast4;1169648]York brings back (3-5)
Naperville North (6-31-34-37-43)
At first glance it would seem like Naperville North is the only team who won't be struggling to find a 5th man who can break 15:30. In terms of weaknesses here goes:
Good analysis -- I think NN will have 8 guys under 15:30 next year and this
will create a pack that will be tight and highly competitive -- Freshman Jermann has run ahead or on par with York's Cecil and 2007 will be year
NN is positioned as team that can win state -- competition will come from
NV and Waubonsie

York will surely have 5 that can run 15:30.

I am sure they will have them but they are not obvious at this time -- 2007 CC is a long way off but based on current roster York is probably 4th or 5th behind NN,NV, Waubonsie and STCN -- if the recruiting is good and a few new talents appear maybe York can repeat -- just think the 4 others have deeper strength at this point in time.
Obviously in the minority since 58% of poll still picks York -- I guess we will
have the facts in roughly 12 months -- everything else is opinion

Voted St. Charles North, despite the fact that I think Lincoln-Way East will be a huge contender. Which surprises me that no one voted for them as of right now. They are returning 2-3-4-7 with Scott-Stirn and Troester coming close to all-state. The two of them plus Kirchner and Revord took a risk at State by going out hard, I believe 3 of them (not Revord) were in all-state contention till the last mile. These guys are gutsy and I can see them being a big threat to teams like STCN, WV, NN and York.

I doubt LWE will be that good. This year, they had a great 1-2-3-4, but no number 5 guy, which hurt them big time. Next year they'll have a great 1-2-3, but no 4-5.

Which is very true, their #7 this year was just a freshman. But take in to example St. Charles North, did any of us really see them taking 2nd at State?? (nothing aganist the STCN guys). This team lost 2 all-staters and still made a team out of it. So really it can go up for grabs by a lot of teams next year, should be intersting.

With a great 1-2-3 all they need is some young guys to step up and perform better than expected -- one could say that NN has a great #1, NV a great #1 and #2, York a great #1 and #2, etc. -- 2007 CC is a long way off, I think they will get the 4/5 slots filled and could be a contender -- with #1,2,3 filled they may be one ahead of the others, including NV
