Should be pretty damn quick. You gotta think that Murdock can run sub-4:20, based off a ridiculous Cross Season. Predmore and Suriano should be able to run sub 3:10 and sub 2:00. Thats 9:30 at worst without including a 400 leg, that you know is going to be around 50. So 10:20 seams very realistic. Should be sick.

Any other notable guys expected to run that event?

Im probably running the 400 leg of the shen DMR. Im the #3 400 guy but i did just run a 37.3 300 last week at the armory, so i shouldnt be too bad. As far as how stacked it is, its up in the air on whether murdocks running or resting through this meet.
one of our other 400 guys overheard coach jones throwing out numbers such as 9:55. just a thought though. ;)

The 9:55 he is talking about has to be for sometime this year (winter and spring seasons combined). I am sure he is not talking about Wednesday

Me and a friend figured out that by winters end they will have set a new NR they seem very very good any one know what there best 400 guy they could do. Also notice pleasantville has 3 guys in the 800 says something about there 4x8 they ran like 7:58 last year i expect them to possibly be under 7:50 this winter which would be insane

shen has 3 guys that could be under 51.
the three of us ran a 300 at bishop laughlin last weekend.
#1 guy- 37.90 (running with sore hamstring, wasn't an all out effort)
#2 guy- 36.63
#3 (myself) - 37.34
37.5 300 can be in the range of around 50.0 for a 400

35.5 would put most people around a low 49 from a gun start, maybe 48.8-49.0 on a relay. I think 37.5 is more like a 51.0
It can be done

It all depends on your conditioning. That last 100m's can be either a killer or a smooth finish to your total 400m time.

Not at all.
A guy who runs 37.5 for 300m, is not close to 50.0 (using same effort). If you need to go 100 further, you must slow down going thru 300m.
Is a 3:00 1200m guy a 4:00 1600m guy? Obviously not.
If you cannot run 36.00, then you have little chance of running 50.00

idk, your all probably right but after my 37.3 i still felt like i had another 13 second 100 meters in me. which would be 50.3.
it all depends on how well you run your last 100. thats where ive always been able to make up alot of ground if i needed to. i made up a 10-12 meter deficit once in the last 100.

McDermott outkicks Murdock, Chaminade over Shen
by Niko Viglione
Fans who wandered in a little late this morning could be forgiven if they thought for a moment that they had accidentally wandered into a baseball game at Yankee stadium. The noise level was simply that deafening during the boys varsity DMR which featured one of the best matchups of the day, a field boasting teams such as Chaminade, Byram Hills, Ridgewood, Shenendehowa, Warwick Valley, and many many more.
The sound system was blasting, and the crowd was in a frenzied state of excitement, voices screaming hoarsely and feet and fists pounding on the track. Shenendehowa, considered to be the pre-race favorite by many, attempted to live up to its billing, with the talented Zach Predmore towing the field through splits of 62 and 2:08 before surrendering the lead to Warwick Valley, who in turn was challenged and passed down the homestraight by Smithtown for the lead at 1200m, reached in just over 3:12.
From there, the 400m legs blasted out of the zones and quickly established a peloton flowing around the track, Ridgewood broke from the pack late in the leg to hand off just ahead of the slew of runners threatening to overcome them. Early in the 800m leg, Shen once again made their presence known, quickly battling their way to the front and holding an ever so perilous gap over both Chaminade and Ridgewood all the way through the leg.
The anchor leg was a race unto itself, featuring two NYS titans of distance running, Steve Murdock and Ryan McDermott. Known for his gutsy front running, Murdock played the part to a T, trying incessantly to shake the shadow that loomed just over his right shoulder. Yet successive laps of 64, 2:09 and 3:17 did nothing to alter the state of things, as the McDermott continued to stalk the front-running Murdock. On the final lap, Ryan made his move, swinging wide off the front curve, the yells and exultations of his family ringing from the nearby bleachers, McDermott shot by Shen’s champion with a savage burst of speed that even the gutsy Murdock was unable to match and carrying the baton home for Chaminade in a new meet record of 10:23.86.

I wonder if there was another McDermott and Murdock battle in which McDermott won.
Also, on the write up it says, Chaminade in a new meet record of 10:23.86, and at the meet it was announced that it was a new meet record. However, Northport ran 10:19.35 two years ago in the dmr and that is the meet record. The Chaminade runners that I have talked to have all been really nice guys and they deserved more recognition during their victory lap.

Murdocks XC season was 2 weeks longer than Mcdermott who did split 4:12 at penn last year. Murdock is two weeks behind in fitness and its the first meet. Murdock will be back and running 4:10-4:15 anchor legs again in i'd say 6 weeks or so.

McD is certainly Murdock's equal at 1600m on the track. Ryan split 4:12.2 at Penn, which is about 1.4 better than Murdock's best 1600 split.
Both VERY good. I'm sure they will hook up another time or two.

yea im pretty sure they didn't beat Northports record. That being said, a victory lap may have been a bit much. Its not like it was a photo finish or something absolutely ridiculous.
The meet director had the winners of each of the invitational DMR races as well as the 4 x 2 winners take a victory lap - it was not something that the Chaminade team did on their own.

4:22 after a 7-week XC finale is not bad at all.
Although he did have a incredibly long 7 week stretch i think most would have expected more from a third place finisher at foot locker. That being said I'm sure he'll be up there with the best of them when NIN and outdoors rolls around.

Murdock did have an awesome 7 week stretch in XC. There's no doubt that definitely had a toll on his body and speed. One might have expected maybe a couple seconds faster for his split, but there's no reason why you would think that there's something wrong with his anchor. We know he isn't the quickest in terms of mile and down and getting beat by someone like mcdermott who is more suited towards the event should not be a surprise. Murdock will definitely be back an run faster 1600's in the 410-413 range.
