National media has been overhyping the Saints as a "feel good" story, trying to link the team's success to the Katrina "rebuilding".
Fact is, no one in Louisiana, let alone N.O. gives a damn about rebuilding the city...that's why nothing's been done since the disaster. Imagine Chicago and it's people just sitting on their asses and leaving the city looking like a sewer for a year and a half....would never happen.
The Saints have nothing to do with the city feeling good about itself and even if they win, it's not going to change the mess down there.

THe bears will win, the saints are simply a feel good story, though next year they are going to be lights out. the secondary got picked apart, and the run defense sucks by garcia, if westbrook hadn't dropped five passes maybe a diff. game. bears ftw

Are you serious? This IS the most ignorant post I have ever read.
How would New Orleans not "give a damn" about rebuilding the city? The people lost everything they had!

How would New Orleans not "give a damn" about rebuilding the city? The people lost everything they had! Then why isn't being rebuilt, a year and a half later? No one wants to go there, no one wants to live there. Most of the people are not going to return.
Even though they were terribly slow due mostly to the imcompetent local government, relief was provided by the US government and additional help was provided by the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and private citizens, many out-of-state and international (even countries recovering from the tsunami sent aid).
For 6 months after Katrina, Illinois was holding fund drives for N.O. Now it's stopped because no one was willing to put any more money into an area that shows no sign of making an effort to rebuild.
Where is the effort of the people of the state of Lousiana? There is none, because most of them didn't live there and could care less.
Nagin was a total idiot. He made no evacuation plans until it was too late.
New Orleans will turn into an Atlantic City, a casino town where people come and go, but no one will want to live there.

Have you ever even been to New Orleans, much less after the hurricane?
DO NOT blame the lack of progress on the people of Louisiana. There is far too much red tape, and a horrible governor/mayor that has seriously dampened the progress. That though, is by no means criteria to question to effort the people. These people have lost EVERYTHING! What could you possibly expect them to do when most insurance companies screwed people over or didn't finalize their settlements for up to a year after the disaster?
Of course, New Orleans may never be the same, but what place could? Most of the city was impoverished; therefore, they will have no oppurtunity to rebuild.
I am not upset about you mentioning the lack of progress, but how dare you even say that the Saints are a media darling and the people of Louisiana do not even care about the team? How would you know being that you live in Illinois? Have you experienced the huge emergence of pride and faith down here, mostly due to that football team? I DO NOT think so. Next time, you seriously need to think about what you say before you run your mouth!
Ignorance is absolutely no excuse! Educate yourself about the situation before you decide you can say things that are incredibly far from the truth.
EDIT: And you compared it to Chicago...I would be willing to bet all of the impoverished areas of Southern Chicago would be EXACTLY like New Orleans. How can you possibly say the people down here must not care about rebuilding the city? The city is a large staple of our culture, and for most people is everything they know. Learn about the situation and you will realize the problem has nothing to do with the people, but rather the corrupt goverment officials at the local, state, and national levels.

There is no way people of this state would let anything stand in the way of rebuilding. You're using every excuse in the book but the government alone did come up with over 100 billion while the damage was 81 billion. What did they do with the money? How many plasma TV's can you buy?
Reality sets in tomorrow....Saints go down and N.O. is just as forgotten as it was before the season started.

I know Chicago much better than you know New Orleans.
You see, all you here about it the money being put up, but that money has never actually made its way to New Orleans.
You can say whatever you want, but your precious Chicago gets hit by a natural disaster of Katrina's proportion, and it's the same thing as New Orleans.
You must really know a lot about football. With your underachieving defense and extremely mistake prone offense your going to beat a team that is more disciplined and flat out better. Go figure.

If we got hit by a natural disaster, we sure as hell wouldn't be getting the help from New Orleans that we gave them. They can't even clean their own house.
And in my mind, it wasn't a natural disaster, it was a man-made disaster....they hadn't done an engineering study on upgrading those levees until 2000 and they knew this could happen.

And N.O. lost 6 times this season and didn't exactly dominate the Eagles. The Bears beat last years Super Bowl Seahawks twice.

So you are saying that the Eagles are not better than the Seahawks? If Holmgren wouldn't have made a handful of stupid decisions; they would have won. Chicago barely sqeaked by the Seahawks. Take away 2 or 3 big plays, and the Saints blew out the Eagles. Did you even watch the game?
I can't wait until the game; may the best team win (the SAINTS!).

I give credit to the Saints for a great year, but the better team won.

The same could have been said for the Bears-Seahawks game. The interception Rex 'threw' in the redzone, the block in the back were two plays that would've created a 14 point swing.
I guess we now know who was the better team...
