Meseret Defer new Women's 3k WR

After failing to break the WR in Boston, she destroyed it in Stuttgart about an hour ago today, running 8:23 and only winning the race by .02 over another Ethiopian. Sorry that's all the information I have at the moment.


Edit: 8:23.72 was the record, beating the old time of 8:27.86, second place was Meselech Melkamu in 8:23.74:

That's pretty insane! The fastest time in a womens 3k outdoors by a Non-Chinese athlete is 8:22 from Gabriella Szabo in 2002(Paula Radcliffe and Edith Masai were right behind her). Meseret can get that "record" also!

This rivalry with Tirunesh Dibaba is interesting. Meselech Melkamu nearly got the record in her first indoor race ever I'm impressed! Also Joanne Pavey, who ran like 8:31 is great today!

Tirunesh and Sara Hall ran great this weekend in the Millrose 3k. What would their time be if they ran it in Boston or Tyson?
