make sur youre running thorugh with the same speed as an actual jump would be...if you do 3 runthrough are they all on the same mark?

yea i do all of the run throughs the same speed, though none of the run through's ever end up the same either .. and if i pick a mark .. none of the real jumps ever end of the same too ..

It's all in the first two or three steps of your approach. Are you rocking back at all? I've seen a lot of people that like to do weird pre-approach **** that looks cool and all, but totally ruins the first couple of steps. I know I used to personally do like two bounds into my run which always ruined everything. It wasn't until I stopped doing my pre-approach routine that I had a consistent mark every single time.

correct! yeah towards the end of the season I changed my routine from rocking back and forth to just one rock back, then straight out. I rarely foul, only like twice this season. also it could be you are running down the runway your first few steps going kinda side to side. if you ar stop! go straight out, keeping your steps straight and picking up speed

i either just stand there with one leg forward and go or sometimes lean back and go (like you said) .. i guess ill just have to work this week for just getting a good mark

I had the same problem earlier this year but I seem to have solved it at the Bay State Games Qualifier. I used to do the rock back a couple of times but I realized as I did this that when I started the approach that my first stride was always different. I think the first step may be the key because even a few inches farther or behind your normal stride will throw off the approach.

this is good news, i remember class 3s you fouled 5 jumps, hopefully the problem is fixed

my routine is a calf raise hold it for a couple of seconds, and then rock 3 times, i dont think thats the problem with y marks are off
mine were usually off because i dont accelerate the same and i figured that out at the last meet of the season
but thats jus wat i think, im prolly wrong

I don't know if that's real or not, but that is a beautiful hit.

most of the variation in approaches comes in the first 2 or 3 steps. try this when you run out your approach: get it so that your first 2 or 3 steps are the same every time, then mark that spot as well as your starting spot for the approach. that should help your approach stay the same each time.

i had the same problem. my mark would constantly be off by like 4 feet or something huge like that. if you practice your approach enough, you can get to the point where even before you get 4 strides away from the board, you can see if it is off by even less than a foot.
