first of all congrats to him for a great leg....but i think the article was a little overkill, i dont really think anyone underestimates him since he did so well at xc states and i also feel bad for the kid in the relay they called "the stocky one"

You seem to be the one going apes*** over dyestat drama. I doubt you've ever met clifbar, but if you had you'd know he's a really nice guy.
Hmmm, then why can't he be a nice guy on dyestat. I dont see why people act differently on dyestat. I guess people dont act the same way on dyestat than they do in person. Like maybe, possibly, in person, you dont talk only about yourself.

both me and run faster have no problem with his posts we just find it extremely annoying that he doesnt argue with someone by posting he just neg reps people and leaves a comment that doesnt make sense, he doesnt try t argue his point logically

Congratulations Carlos!
Big things for him in the future :D
-Montrond remembers a moment in sixth grade. He was too skinny for football, so he tried out for the track and field team.
"The coach told me I was too slow," he said.-
I laughed out loud

Ironically (considering my mom was actually had a 5000 meter world best in the mid 80s) I've been there too. I got called slow by a freakin basket-ball coach in 7th grade. A year later I went on to beat his son and the rest of the 8th graders in town of Brookline (excluding Robert Gibson of course) in a one mile xc race. I could also beat that coaches son in a sprint if we ever raced and I always knew it. I think similarly to Montrond its also effected by my height but not lack of, rather being seen as too tall, lacking coordination, ect.

My dad, El Guerrouj, called me slow after I stole a pair of his tube socks.

What is your moms name? If I do some research on her and find this to be true, I will take back what I said.

My mom is Lesley Welch (now Lehane.) Former 5000 world best (indoor) and possibly her best race 5th at the 1987 world xc championships. Originally of Peabody HS. Also ran a 5:36 2000 meter and won a San Fran marathon.

OOOOOKKKKKK, I take back what I said. I just dont trust people easily, my bad.
I have a question for Burnstein, if I was to race his mom and there is 50 meter left and I pass her with 25 meters to go, then she passes me at the finish, would that make me better than her in any way?

Are you seriously rehashing my comment from emass during xc?
My answer would be that you wouldn't be better than her, but I'd still be proud of you for coming that close to beating an elite athlete such as Lesley Welch.

Prof Plum - Wow, you're really Lesley Welch's kid? Old people like me remember her ... she got a lot of ink in T&FNews, etc., back in the day ... she has a twin sis who was good, too, right? Was it Lisa?
Yeah, I believe the prevailing thought was for awhile that your mom was on her way to being as good as anyone in the country. I mean, I guess she was when she was at her best, but did she have some injury problems, etc? Seems like I recall she had a long layoff (multiple years?), then had a comeback?

Yeah thats true. In fact injury was the main reason my mom never competed in the olympics, (I believe her back got injured ~2 weeks before the trial.) My dad was also a runner (Bruce Lehane, now coaching at BU) although not quite a standout like as my mom, ran 4:11 and 1:51. He did have injury problems as well. And me? I seem to be somewhat injury prone myself.
