How much mileage does your high school distance team do in the five day school week for spring track?

Well we run 6 days a wk, and the typical wk for us would look like this.
Mon: 1.25 mi up, speedwork (2800-3200 meters worth) + strides (6x100 or 6x150), 1/2 mi down
Tues: 5-6 mi easy + strides (6x100 or 6x150, or 5x200), 1/2 mi down
Wed: same as mon
Thurs: same as tues
Fri: same as mon
Sat: same as tues
We alternate every day between distance/easy runs and speedwork. The typical speed workout would be something like 1x800, 2x600, 2x400 + strides. We range from 2800-3200 meters total of speedwork each time. I guess it's about 35 mpw.

does your coach like you explaining all the workouts that your team does on an online message board?
or is he as oblivious as you?

idk about the rest of the team, but in track I do about 55 mpw and in cross about 65. Probably for the rest of the varsity guys they do about 5 or 10 less than whatever I do.

During Cross Country this year I'd say the team average over the course of the entire season, including summer, would be about 70. I averaged 58. Oh and we run 7 days a week (taking a day off every other week or when necessary).

Do you have a problem with him saying what he does for training?
It's not like he's flanking out on some revolutionary training regimen. It's just typical stuff.
Chill.

right now im gonna hover around 50 mpw until the big two weeks roll around but the rest of the team is in the 30-45 range depending on who it is because our easy days (tues thurs) plus weekend mileage is individual

I'm a soph in high school and durring xc i was doing about 70 mpw.....then i got sick. Prob from too much mileage to quick and not taking any days off, but eh what can you do?

During xc, our top mileage was up to 80 mpw and then 85 mpw. After that we dropped down to about 50 and we were dead. I think we did too much and i don't recommend it. As long as you run quality miles, the amount that you run shouldn't matter.

i think what nonstop would be worried about is if he posts his wokrouts and his competition sees them. the competiton might go out and run an as good or better workout which will give the comp more confidence.
