View Full Version : Will Barnicle win the National 2 Mile? How fast?

Will Chris win his first National title in quite possibly his final high school race? Not much competition, but he will have to beat the likes of the 8:49 Bumbi. If so, what do you think he'll run?
Granted the results will be biased since it's in the New England Region, but oh well.
I voted "Yes: 8:44-8:47." I think he'll go 8:47.

Interesting track season thus far for CBarnicle, basically it would appear he has trained through indoors racing sparcely, but successfully. Last year he worked hard/raced hard, with great
partners (VGras,MBanks,GCoombs) to provide challenges. I saw his season's final race (BHP 5k) and he appeared to be running on empty.(15:01.xx), which begs the question, has he(they) set this season up to culminate in the AOC 2mile championship/or the Juniors Summer racing?
Hopefully in the next few weeks, we can see him ramp up the intensity and run some quality races (Hartford Public/States) which will give some indication(4:04-6)of the promise that low 8:40's are forth coming. FWIW

Don't forget about cory thorne he ran a 8:55 last year so he should be in the running for title.

If the youngest taye was a little older with more experence i think that he would be able to chalange but this year he isnt at the shape that he should be in a couple of years....So my vote goes to barni around 8:50ish...

Well, with 6 weeks to go after the Penn Relays, his 1600m carry will show some indication IF that's going to happen.

Wiz wiz....you clearly aren't picking up on what i'm talking about....Barnicle is an expert 200 meter runner and undefeated in it against some stiff competition this past indoor season.

Nice...is Polgar healthy? If he's healthy and been getting in some good training i gotta imagine they cuold run a very fast time and win the meet. If he's not healthy....i say let barnicle run the 1200 and 1600 legs lol, or do the 800 and 1600 back to back in like 620ish.

Bumbi didn't run in the big meets because he had a small injury...not because he was training for spring nationals.

what makes you say barni has more 800 speed, Bumbi's 800 PR is better
Wizardx
05-03-2005, 09:24 PM
1) not only does barnicle have more 800 speed than bumbalough...
2) if barni is within 25 yards of bumbalough with 800 to go (which will be unlikely)...
3) i think bumbalough will be dead in the bag...
4) who knows bumbalough might suprise us all we havent seen his true potential this year, but i doubt it.
1) Who says? EDIT: (Beat me to it 'toine)
2) Um, I'd say it would be likely. But I suppose you mean he Barnicle will not have to make up 25 yards in the last 800m, right?
3) That's a pretty bold statement about the FL Runner-Up and Indoor National Mile Champion.
4) Well, we haven't seen Barnicle's true potential this year either. And why do you doubt you will see Bumbi's true potential???
(Assuming Bumbi recovers from whatever minor injury he underwent)
