I LIVE IN DALLAS, TEXAS

I'll be 22 in May and I'm getting ready to graduate from college with a Bachelors in Finance. My family is happy for me but I'm not because I never really wanted a college degree, I've always wanted to be a Pro Track and Field athlete. So before I go out into the business world I at least want to try and become something that I've always wanted to be which is a pro track athlete instead of wondering what if, because I have nothing to lose since I have my degree.

So I was wondering if anyone knows of any good track clubs or good locations for a future track star. I am from Dallas, Texas but I'm willing to relocate so you dont have to just suggest clubs and locations in Texas. I just really need someone to help me train and to get in good physical shape. So anyones help would be greatly appreciated.

I can run the 100, 200, 400, and 800. The last time I ran track was in the ninth grade and I had to stop because of constant fluid in my knees and tendinitis.
At 15 my prs were 100: 10.75, 200: 21.49, 400: 47.15(My favorite race, made it to state as a freshman for Kimball High School).

You haven't ran since Freshman year of highschool? That's like 8 years. Have you been involved in other sports or maintaining some sort of credible fitness? I'm inclined to say, 'Sorry buddy, not happening." You'll have such a late start it's almost sad. You do have talent judging from those times. Better off just finding yourself a coach, get a job. See where that takes you. But otherwise I really think your chances are between slim and slimmer.

I would have to agree with PepsiTwist. If you haven't been maintaining a decent level of fitness I can't think of any coaches with the ability to take you to the level you want to go to who would be willing to exert the effort on someone who hasn't run in so many years.

That doesn't mean it can't be done. If someone were to give me the answer we just gave you in regards to my dream it would only fuel my fire to get it done even more.
You're gonna have to step out and contact some people. Heck check out the HSI webpage and try contacting them. Maybe they could point you in the direction of someone who would be willing to take the chance.

The following is a link to a list of elite clubs... but I don't really know anything about any of them...

What happened to the constant fluid in your knees and tendonitis?

Contact the top elite management agencies, can somebody post the links?

There are a few companies that manage quite a large # of elite athletes. But since you are slower also try to contact the smaller groups, like Zap Fitness?

Good luck! :p

If it is seriously your passion. Your dreams, your goals. If it seriously something you will eat, live and breathe for the next couple of years. Devoting your life to only this, and only this. Then yes, you have a shot. The shot may be far, but with times like those as a freshman, one coulod only imagine what you could run well trained and more matured.

Believe and Achieve.

Well Said Cass

I agree. Those are good times for a senior in high school. It is unfortunate that you had to stop running as a result of your ailments. I wish you well in your return. Hopefully the time off, although a long hiatus, will help you in the long run.

I don't think PepsiTwist was trying to dash your hopes and dreams, but he was being realistic. 8 years is a long time not having run. If you have the drive, go for it. Maybe we'll see your name in some future results. There's not time like the present in getting started on your comeback.

No offense....but you don't exist according to any list of track performances out there, and i doubt they wuold miss a 47.15 freshman from texas. No such times were ran in 1998 which would have been your freshman year when you were 15.

to put the claim of 47.15 as a freshman to the test, here are the all-time best performances in high school and the california freshman record, which i believe is close to the national freshman record for outdoors (the indoor record was william reed's 46.84 until elzie coleman broke it, but i don't know what his time was).

I will add that someone from Kimball made it to state in 1997 and ran the 400. Now I dont know if this is that guy but 47.85 Shameron Turner TX Dallas Kimball State 5A if he ran that at state which dyestate said this guy did then its not out of the question that he ran a 47.15 that was not caught in the rankings.

With those injuries forcing you to quit running Freshman year, your chances of getting in the game at the present are quite unlikey.
