Does anyone here know where I could find the national record for HS Track Dual Meet wins? My dad ran for Centereach HS on Long Island during the 1970's and supposedly they didn't lose a dual meet from 1976-77 until 1996 under Coach Harry Schneider, and I was wondering if his team might have the record. Any websites/books/contact info would be appreciated.

For track or XC? CBA in NJ has the national XC dual meet consecutive wins record.

Ryan....Until PeterQuince brought it up recently most of us in section 8 did not know about Coach Don Scott's record at Manhasset HS...I just spoke to him tonight at the section 8 relay meet at Mitchel and he said that his streak in spring track started in 1977 and just ended a couple of weeks ago...many of those meets were tri's and quads so his record was even more impressive....so to answer your question Coach Schneider does not have the record...

Al Berkowsky (sp) has one helluva record for most overall wins (I believe the NYS overall record is his), but I don't know if they are consecutive wins. In fairness, Manhasset is a small school so it only races small schools. Although as I type this I remember scoring in the 1600 and 3200 as a frosh when we beat Westbury back in 2000, so I guess we've raced larger schools, too. JFK Bellmore and Centereach compete against much larger schools than Manhasset does. But yeah, that was an amazing record of Mr. Scott's. It was fun to be written up in the Newspaper the day we hit 300. I'd say 1977-1996 (or so) for Centereach is pretty impressive given the school size.
That said, got miles?, did the Manhasset guys do anything interesting in the meet? We don't have the depth we used to at all...

Let me comment again--sorry. Manhasset lost x-c meets during that time period (in fact no year when I ran were we undefeated despite winning almost every meet). Our streak was for outdoor alone.
As I recall, St. Thomas Aquinas had a very long x-c dual meet record, too.

Ryan,
I know that we had all discussed this for some time, Centereach also won a ton of Suffolk County Champs in outdoor track. We ran against them when I was a Junior? I think and got beat, mostly since we didn't have their depth. Although we beat them in distance and some sprints.
Ask your dad if he ran with Bill Iaia. He held the Centereach indoor 1 mile record from 1977 until last year.
How ya feeling Ryan?
