Assuming they draft Oden (no brainer IMO) with the first pick...

Portland has the potential to become a force in the west.

Oden
Roy
Aldridge
Randolph
Jack
Webster
Sergio
Outlaw

I have no idea who they'll play at small forward...maybe Webster.

I say trade Zack for Vince? Rashard Lewis?

The Hawks will waste the 3rd pick.

And the poor Celtics...boo...hoo...for Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers.

How does Danny Ainge and Kevin McHale keep their jobs?

I know this controversial, but I think this whole 'draft lottery' is rigged by David Stern. He does what he thinks is better for the league.

That's how David Robinson got his sidekick all those years ago. That's how Lebron ended up in his hometown ect....It's all WWEish.

It's all WWEish.

Agreed. That sums up my feelings about the entire NBA, right down to the "good guys" and "bad guys" thing.

That'll be interesting. Simmons wrote one a while back where he was bemoaning the Celtics obvious throwing of games to help their draft status, so will he complain or say that Karma prevailed?

well by karma they should have gotten 2nd pick.. the 0 they got for throwing games was outweighed by all the other karma factors.

(im assuming you read the karma article, or else its a big coincidence that you brought it up)

Would it not?

I agree with how it looks at times, however.

But why would he want Seattle...and not N.O. or Boston?

The Sonics franchise is in extreme danger, that's why. I don't think I'm the only who's not at least a little surprised that they didn't get the first pick.

I don't think the players are in on it. I think some of the refs are though, namely Dick Bavetta. There was an article in SI a couple years back that pinned him at the 6 most controversial 'reffed' games in the NBA. The Larry Johnson 4 point play that had the Knicks win at the buzzer, the 16 point turn-around the lakers had against the Trailblazers in the last 6 minutes of the Western Conference finals (which I did see, and what convinced me that the league was rigged) and several others that I don't remember off the top of my head.

Don't you think it's really wierd coicidence when Lebron doesn't get any free throws in a game, or IF the refs actually call a 3 second violation? (Horace Grant with the lakers LIVED in the lane BTW...) That is how they influence a game. Call me calloused or what not, but I've held this opinion for several years now....In fact, I went to a T wolves game this year ( a friend of mine had free tickets) and I called it. I actually said "Ok, here is where they are going to start throwing it"---The wolves were up 14 in the 2nd quarter. No sooner did I say that there were 4 loose ball fouls called in a row. 4! So, call me a nut, or whatever, but my love for the NBA is almost non existant.

i know the nba isnt rigged, becuase if it was all set up, don't you think they would make it alot more entertaining, and watchable? instead of the dieing league in the big pro sports?

the virtue of conspiracy theories where there is no evidence whatsoever (not at all like the case of bush, of course), is that you can use whatever results to prove whatever you want.

I agree completely with td's first post here. trailblazers in the next few years should be a force, particularly if they manage their surfeit of pf's (randolph and aldridge) well and either add a strong outside three (how about richard jefferson, an excellent defensive player and scorer, from the west and more of a three than vc?) or get either martell webster or travis outlaw to develop.

atlanta has been terrible in the draft for years. the joe johnson thing fell into their laps for whatever reason. but shelden williams, marvin williams, dermar johnson, and others going back awhile have not yet panned out.
