This doesn't really belong on the NE forum, and there's already threads on several other boards:

OOPS....didn't know it was already posted. I posted it in NE only because it was a cross country runner and there seem to be quite a few of them on here.

When I saw the title, I thought this was a parody,or a remake of the song Here Comes The Sun. However, when I opened it, i was disappointed to see the same article for the third time.

The Jack Daniels book is a great read, but it is for higher-level runners with some experience. Although, he has included an appendix with workouts for beginner and intermediate runners, the latter of which you probably are. It sounds like your team has to take control of the situation and start running. Before I began coaching, there were no summer workouts, no captains practices, kids just went and ran. All you need to be sure of is that you gradually build mileage so that your first week of fall practice is easy to complete, and keep the speed work to a minimum, until the season starts. Try a tempo run or a fartlek run once a week, or three every two weeks at the most. There is no rule or exact science to how much any of your teammates should run. Set a mileage goal for yourself and meet it (300 miles from June-August is a good one) and youll feel accomplished going into the season.

OK, but there was a specific reason I read that particular thread (and it was like a year ago). That thread was started by someone on this forum, and I'm sure I linked to it.

How's this... nine of ten times on this forum, all I read is NE.

I thought you had to be 18 to marry.

The age to legally get married without parental consent varies by state. Plus, if you read the article over, her parents signed it.

Meanwhile, the Hagers say Windy withdrew, refusing to speak to them until she asked them to sign a consent form so that she and her coach — a man more than twice her age — could get married.

Although anguished, her weary parents gave in.

"Signing those consent forms was the hardest thing I did in my whole life, but we had to move on, it was going to kill us all," Dennis said.
