There has not been much talk about the up comming sophmores. Who do you think will be very good and possibly be all-state?

If you are talking about the class of 2010, I would say none for all state. The Senior class is loaded this year by almost all schools, along with a few juniors (sulkin, powala, gibson)

QFE. I doubt any sophomores will go all-state, if they do they will just barely get in.

Some incoming sophomres with good track times as of now include Lesciewicz from Schaumburg (9:40), Jermann from NN (9:39), and Cecil from York (4:36 at NON) for AAA. Tim Marr ran 4:33 at MWDG, he goes to Buffalo Grove, but I don't know which division they are in.

Clearly that is true. I am only asking if any of the kids who were successful at the IESA level are expected to be doing well as sophomores.

In AA as far as I know only Jorge Torres has won both IESA and IHSA titles. Decatur's Will McCann and Hersey's Kevin Havel have won the IESA and gotten 2nd at the IHSA level.

good point; i don't think winning the IESA and IHSA titles by the same person will happen soon

yeah..I know most of the Stevenson jr. highs don't go...and I know my school didn't go (I almost ran as a member of Lake Zurich Middle School South because they were the closest school to where I lived and apparently you're allowed to do that...but then I was like, eh whatever...now I wish I had done it just for kicks)

My school didn't either. Which sucks because I probably would have placed well at the time.

Also, #17 who goes to Fenwick now, plays soccer and tennis, not a runner, which is dumb.

About Nico from Loyola, I could see him being really good this year, but not All-State.

It is hard to compare times at Detweiler to track times since the freshmen from York, NN, Schaumburg, NV were all on deep teams which meant they were not in top 7 on their squads for State - if they have a Detweiler time (for Watchout rankings) it was either earlier in season and probably in a F/S race. Track times also tend to be from F/S races where they usually ran alone.

My guess is that Leskiewicz and Jermann have best shot at making big jumps in rankings during early season and having a good shot at All-State. Their3200 times are good indications of potential since they were run in Invitationals late in track season against good fields. Their 3200 times are on par or slightly ahead of last years All-State Sophs - Sulkin and Gibson.

The sophs from York and NV's first challenge is to make Top 7 on their squads since both teams are large and highly competitive in the 4-7 spots.
