Run 3xmile in 4:40 with 7.5 minutes rest

this comes from a jumper who knows little about mid distance training.. ive seen my team do these workouts before though and they look insanly hard.. i think its a good bet that the above workout "wouldnt hurt" :P

you could run 200s
you could run 300s
you could run 400s
you could run 500s
you could run 600s
you could run 700s (although I've never heard of someone running 700s...)
you could run 800s
you could run 1000s
you could run 1200s
you could run 1600s

...

or you could just run.

But really, do you need overdistance work? or do you need speed work? I'm assuming that you would need extra overdistance work, since you're also a 400 runner.

I would suggest
6x600s @ ~1:23
and/or
4x1000s @ ~2:37

that is just the track workouts ... also dont' forget about plyos/drills/strides and a 3-6 mile run every day.

yea I think you'd need to post a pr cause it's a big difference in going under 1.55 if your pr is 2.01 or if it's 1.57(obviously)

That is a very good point.

My favorite workout for the 800 are the odd distances (300s and 500s and 800 pace). They give you that extra umph at the end of the race if you do the workout right.

You've got the speed it looks like you just need more distance work. Longer runs, longer intervals, etc. Do XC.

that first one depending on the rest sounds like a workout for a 1:52 or 1:51 type guy at worst....thats a ridiculously fast workout. 1:23 is what? 1:51 pace?...how are u supposed to do 6 of those, especially alone

the 1000's are still real hard but not quite as bad
