The Illinois Track & Cross Country Coaches Association will be hosting the third annual New Track and Cross Country Officials Clinic for anyone interested in becoming a new official.

The clinic will take place Saturday, July 28th at Whitney Young High School, 211 South Laflin, in Chicago. The clinic will start at 1:00 pm and will last approximately two hours. At the conclusion of the clinic, attendees will be given the IHSA State Track Officials Exam.

Cost for the clinic is $50 and will include pizza and soda. Interested candidates must be at least 18 years old, bring a state issued ID, and the name address and phone number of three references. Any candidate without the requirements will be turned away.

I thought the min. age is 17 (at least to be an official, maybe different because of clinic?)?

If thats the case, then I guess Derrick will "officially" run a 8:40 indoors then this year

edit: i'd actually be pretty happy if Chris actually ran a 3200m indoors.. not a 3k, or 3.4k or 2.8k and whatever else he ran

In most of his races, Chris Derrick has had bad luck with officials not being able to count laps. He ran quite a lot of races one lap short or one lap extra. Don't really know why IllinoisPhotographer mentioned him though, sort of.
