I am a 5'6 senior in hs, what would be my ideal racing weight for XC, right now i am around 137-140

It depends on your body type.
Just a complete guess, maybe 125-130. It isn't really that significant unless you are grossly underweight or overweight. People the same height can have completely different weights and still be at an appropriate weight because their body types are simply different. I say just don't worry about it, keep running, and you will end up where you need to be.

double your hight in inches
me 6'4 = 74 inches x 2 = 152lbs. i weigh 155 and up depending on the day
you 5'6 = 66 inches x2 = 132lbs.
it seems to work + or - a few lbs

GAH me 6'4 175+
Even though it doesn't matter that much its a lot of weight to carry around
Ash, that is within two pounds of my weight. I'm 6'0 (70 inches) and weigh 138. That works our just about right.
EDIT: And I look a little bit more like the guy in the second picture in pln09's post.
DOUBLE EDIT: Except not black. Or really fast.

Yah, weigh'ts definitly all relative, and be sure to keep in mind less is definitly not always better. I've actually been trying to put on a little(5'9", 115).

i am 5"5 1/2 and i weigh 120
65.5x2=131
dang i am 11 lbs underweight i guess
does this mean i can eat fast food?

im 5 foot 6 and 3/4 and weigh 132. so that system works for me perfectly.

LOL, I took his word for it that 6 feet=70 inches. And I'm in Algebra II... :o 6 feet = 72 inches.
