I'm gonna say this is American performance #1 of the year. People are going to kill me for dissing Webbs record but I'd pick throwing a huge throw at a Super Grand Prix than running the American Record at a small meet.

So it was better than Webbs #3 American AT 1500 silencing an entire French stadium, in a big race, in which he won?

Though, Hoffa is higher on the world AT list than Webb is for that 1500.

in terms of competition and stepping up when it really matters I agree but in terms of actually time/distance I strongly disagree. US AT#7 =/= US AT #1.

Reese Hoffa is probably the only US athlete I am pretty confident going into Worlds will get medal other then our sprinters

I feel like 19.62 is still the best performance. That is, unless Ecliptica tells me I'm wrong and that Hoffa's throw is better.

I was pretty confident in John Godina in Helsinki two years ago. That didn't turn out well.

If he's chasing a cheesburger then I'd say Webbs record is in peril.

I agree with ya, I'm still liking the 19.62 into a wind.

Hoffa is a friggin' beast though, and I guess Breaux Greer has to be mentioned, too in this conversation.

Sub-5:00 because it's basic fitness and he's an elite athlete.

QFTaking a previous argument out of context, and still being wrong.

I don't think that's a fair comparison. US dominates teh shot put, while we dont' dominate the Mile. What your world ranking is (in a converted 1500 time) should really be the comparison to which is great, which would probably be Hoffa's throw i would think.
