Converts to 3:57.04 for Goucher and is quite aways from both of his PR's still:

At 3:36.xx and 3:54.17? I think

15000 3:36.64
Mile 3:54.17

he ran a 3:41.91 1500 split at pre this year when he ran 3:57.23. So this is his best race this season at that distance. And he probably got outkicked...i wouldn't doubt it he could go 337flat right now.

The guy he lost to has a pr of 3:38.68 he ran last week and is from NZ and has been on fire this year.
Willy Rotich has ran 1:46.33 this year in the 800 and ran 3:38.63 last year and has a 800 pr of 145.33. So he dind't beat any world beaters, but beating Rotich is a good sign for his speed right now. Still got a long ways to go before he has a chance to follow through on his predictions for the 5k this year.

given that this race didn't have anyone running mid or low 3:30s, and thus no one to draw goucher to a very fast time, i'd say that goucher could run a few seconds faster in the right race, but i'd call the 3:57 mile slightly better than this, which converts to 3:57 flat, since not too many people actually live up to the conversion up to mile. in any case, he's just about 3 seconds off his best 1500m/mile times and so probably good for 13:18, but nothing so far shows him to be ready to run the best american time this year in the 5k.

a 7:53 by itself is not very fast. lincoln's run 7:40, broe 7:39 or so, webb the equivalent of about 7:35-8. however, running 7:53 just 50 minutes after a good 1500m is pretty strong, and constitutes a very strong prep (a total of 4500m) for a 5000m in ten days to two weeks.

lets run reporting rupp at 3:44/8:04

Not to shabby, this was obviously not a meet for setting prs for those two. Things seem quite on track for Rupp to run some fast times.
