I want to start up a baseball thread. I think the first order of business is to put back up our predictions from the old board. No cheating allowed! Try your best to remember what you posted on the old board, and repost it here. That is, except for Gesser, since he posted exact win totals for every team. If he can remember them all then more power to him, but I think we can deal with just division winners and what-not. Anyway, I still remember my pre-season predictions:

Good thread, because we all know that baseball doesn't matter until the playoffs!

While I'm not as extreme as jrun, I must agree that I have very little interest in baseball until each game starts to mean something. Is that point before the playoffs? Of course. But is that point now (or in the next month or two)? I'm afraid not. That said, I'll make my picks later if you guys allow me to.

I caught the Cubs/Buccos game this afternoon and it was pretty boring to tell you the truth.

Derek Lee had a big hit, that's about all you need to know.

Haha. Derek had a big game, not just a big hit. He's playing great & is usually a slow starter.

Flilpe got me thinking:

What's the deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim? Anyone know?

I think it's a marketing ploy.

The Dodgers were not happy with it.

Flilpe got me thinking:

What's the deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim? Anyone know?

Arte Moreno, the owner, wanted to do it to expand his franchise to include LA area people to increase revenue. He wants to be known as a 'big market team'. The Angels began in LA and moved to Anaheim so they have some history there. However, I think it's wack and prefer to call them Anaheim still...or even California.

Congrats to rippev and Filipe. Special congrats to rippev for having Houston in the WS. Not many could have seen them in the WS.

I never put down my predictions but I was thinking Cleveland would win the Central and the Twins would be the WC before the season. Whoops. For the NL, I probably thought STL would win the Central (but who didn't) and for the WC I probably had Florida or Atlanta.

I thought I knew baseball best too.

However, I did say before the season to my friends that ARod would probably win the MVP. I know it hasnt been announced yet but I like his chances. Again, not too profound a selection as he's a MVP fave every year.

Okay, I promise next March to make a comprehensive thread and post about baseball. It will be my spring semester goal. It's going to be huge [Conan voice as Donald Trump's voice]!!! I will take weeks off from DyeStat prior to that to make this unbelievable thread.
