practice sprinting like 6x150s all out..then pratice ur 3 step for the hurdles..do other aerobic excercies..go lift weights for upper body support..and then time trial yourself every few weeks for improvement

Yeah, the 3 step thing is CRUCIAL. My frosh year I was running high 17's on 36" with 5 steps... then got the 3 step down, and went to mid 16's on 39" soph year. Now to get the arms and trail leg down. =P

yeah my friend who was a junior this past season did 6x 150 and got way fast in his hurdles. of course he did hurdle workouts..but the sprinting was the thing that got him to a 11.4..when he ran 11.7..in the 100m..so the 110h was helped a lot

ian mcaffee rite? u beat him in the decathalon maybe cuz he messed up his hamstring n sprained both of his wrists playin ball, but during the season he was the best freshmen hurdler in class Ls and for sum reason they put ur FALSE START time from the freshmen/sophmore meet up there in the battlenotes..... wat was ur best time during the season?

Edit: u only beat him in the decathalon.......so when did u destory him?

Yes they put my false start time up, but I actually ran in class Ls, i came in 9th after a bad race and 16.4

In the decathlon i did TERRIBLE and fell after the 9th hurdle, 17.7ish, which was complete crap.

I'm better than him, and i'll prove it once again next year.

i no he didnt run in class Ls maybe its becuase our coach wanted him to concentrate on pole vault becuase hes was the the best freshmen in that also.....he'll beat u next year so dont wry about it

His wrists must have hurt in the decathlon pole vaulting also.

I've seen him vault, he barely bends, congrats to him getting over 11' that way though.

Hold on hold on, I love how you're talking so much smack about your friend, but what have YOU done huh?

Exactly.

And I checked all of lancertiming for a time for Bice, and he ran like 17.54ish at Merrimack Invitational, thats all I could find though.

ive jumped 18'4 not spectacular but decent and that kills ur decathalon long jump by almost 2 feets and ive ran the 100 in 12.4 which also beats u

and maybe u should try harder cuz bice has ran the hurdles in 16.2

Ok look

1. I had a fractured elbow at the decathlon
2. I DID fall, or stumble, after the 9th hurdle, i'm not making excuses, that stumble/fall whatever, was my fault, and if you were there watching Freddie you would have seen me scream in anger after the race because of it.
3. My 100m was 12.5
4. Long jump i jumped off the wrong foot, and my steps were screwed, but whatever, good 18'4" though.
5. Lets see Bice run 16.2 in a meet..

Ok enough of this, i'm done, we'll just have to wait until next year.

Good luck to you and your summer training, i'll see you in indoor.

then u basically went thru the same thing bice went thru even tho bices injuries were sum wat worse
strained hamstring, 2 sprained wrist > fractured elbow

but its all good
good luck to ur summer training too

Haha thanks.

Lets both put up some good numbers in indoor.

I actually said to Bice at the Freshman/Sophomore meet, "Let's show these sophomores up, they have nothing on us."

Or something like that.

i ran that 16.64 on a knee that i could hardly walk on the day before. in fact, as i was walking over to the check in tent at MoC my knee gave out on me, almost causing me to fall. i was planning on going 15.8x until i hurt my knee.

Hmm.. for you freshman in the 16's.. was this 36" or 39" hurdle height?

JumpinSkiing

39 inches.

After thinking about my season, i know EXACTLY what i'm doing wrong and it's really making me excited for indoor/outdoor.

yea so like i said before i wanna hurdle, ive been workin on hurdles a decent amount this summer and i think i got flexibility all set. I do a trail leg drill where u run beside the hurdle and concentrate on the trail leg, i think i got that set but when it comes to going over i jus suck or cant (when i do my lead leg/trail leg sucks and when i cant i think im jus scared cuz of sum past experiences) yea so since i cant really go over its hard for me to work on 3 stepping, ne1 have ne ideas how i can fix my problem?

JumpinSkiing
08-19-2005, 12:10 AM
Hey, i actually went to North today and did some hurdles, what i really wanted to work on was trail leg, and i found my solution to mine.

Lean.

The more i leaned, the better my trail leg whipped around, so that might be something you might want to try.

AznJumpr23
08-19-2005, 12:13 AM
yea i already do lean but the trail leg is not my problem, its going over the hurdle is my problem and lead leg

thats pretty good...17.x and 5 steping.

17.81 is nothing to be proud of really, but I had the form down 5 stepping. Added the speed and the form got kinda bad.
