why wouldnt dylan Mcguffin be on that list he ran 16:40 at derryfield??? shane whalen is good but why not put the faster kids on the list?

Miguooolie

8 Couture, Eric 11 Spaulding 16:31.4

He's second returning this year so he does deserve to be on this list. Now i see that McGuffin should be on the list. As for Keith Dellagrotta and Shane Whalen, I don't see any reason that they should be on this list.

Well he does have decent mile speed so i'm not sure what you are trying to get at there Godfrey.

newyorkxc
07-12-2005, 07:55 PM
well if you are going by mile speed there are a bunch of kids that none of you have even talked about. Where was alex hall this year in track?

Lane of High Hopes
07-12-2005, 07:57 PM
well i was just trying to say that Dylan shouldn't be hurt by the fact that the course will be flatter and faster, which it seemed like Godfrey was getting at but I wasn't sure why.

For those of you that don’t think Hall will be in the top three(according to the poll it’s now 7), i’m curious, why do you think he won’t be up there?

newyorkxc

i think he i beatable. thats all

i think he i beatable. thats all

So who do you think is going to beat him then? why do you think he’ll be beatable?

i think his past track and xc performances shown he’s capable of winning class L’s and MoC

I think Christiansen is going to win it

you need 3 people to beat him though. He slipped up this last championship season, but even that was against very formidable opponents. Even with his poor performances were too much for Schroeder to catch, regardless of the fact that John had superior track times coming out of sophomore year. To say that Hall will not return to his sophomore year performance of 3rd place seems to be pretty bold. He's run times that none of the other runners on that list can really compare too when it comes to XC. He's a definite for a top 3 finish.

Sure he's beatable (as is anyone) but I think he'd have to be considered the favorite. No one in the field has turned in the kind of XC performances that Alex has, i.e., 16:18 and 16:17 as a soph and 16:22 and 16:13 as a junior (all at Derryfield). Of course, Merra and Schroeder are certainly capable and Christiansen is putting up some pretty impressive times. Another thing to consider is that for most of these runners the MOC is the biggest meet of the year and will be taken very seriously. However, the very best runners may be more committed to NE (the next week) and FL (Thanksgiving time) and may be concerned about too much racing. If so, MOC may be not much more than a workout for them. Just something else to think about.

what sort of times did MacPherson have in track and XC. I dont even know who he is...

CVXCrunnerJR
07-13-2005, 11:08 PM
Also, I beat dante vitigliano at MOC's last year (and I was 56th i think), so i dont know if he is gonna get 4th at MOC's this year.

MacPherson ran around 158 for the 800 and low 430s for the mile this spring and it was strongly suggested to me by someone who knows him that he is going to have a very good xc season. As for Dante, I knwo he didn't run very well at MOC last year but I couldn't think of anyone else so i decided to throw him on there cuz I like his name.

newyorkxc

doesnt matter if someone strongly suggested him or not. that means nothing. I agree he has some god times posted in track which will greatly help him. But no one knows how someone else will do in xc.

Miguooolie

Actually it does matter to me so make a new poll if you don't agree with this one.

Heh, I'm jumping on the bandwagon of Hall (1), Shroeder (2), and Merra (3).

Yes, but without ignoring the freak accidents of the world we would have nothing to talk about on the dyestat forums. If you want to predict injuries into your equation, then do so. We're all in the same boat but you need to bend the rules of reality for the sake of a little fun and excitement.

My picks in decending order are

Alex Hall
John Schroeder
Jake Christiansen
Job Christiansen
Anthony Merra
Matt Paulson
Eyob Eyualem
Nate Basset (if he doesnt play soccer)
Dylan McGuffin

After that im not sure. I dont think this year's cross country is going to be as strong as last years with all the seniors that just graduated.

but

Matt Chorney
Jared Smauel, Matt Macaskill and Keith DellaGrotta
Shane Whalen
Peter Jaques
Billy Godfrey
Ryan McCarty
Collin Gately and Dante Vitagliano
should all be up there in the top 20.

What about Eric Couture? he’s the #2 moc returnee

8 Couture, Eric 11 Spaulding 16:31.4

18 #1350 Couture, Eric 11 Spaulding 17:13 CLass Meet Cross Country
8 Couture, Eric 11 Spaulding 10:03.73 Class L's track (2-mile)
14 Couture, Eric 11 Spaulding 10:44.85 MOC track (2-mile)

He seems to have not had a great track season and has some inconsistency.

i think we all can agree on that it should be an interesting race?

CVXCrunnerJR

sure. But dyestat isnt for agreeing. Dyestat is for everyone to have completely different opinions on everything and to get into fights

I'm touched, Miguooolie, but why the hell AM I on the list? (I'm Craig, everyone)

I ran 17:38 in MoC last year!

Although, LaneofHighHopes was right- I did have a ****ty season. My basework was about 100 miles last summer and I had this wierd post-nasal drip allergy that I thought was a cold.

I'm going to have to break Dyestat tradition and agree with someone, though. ZackCampbell, I agree with your prediction of Hall (1) Schroeder (2), and Merra (3).

Still. . . I have four votes so far. . .now I feel pretty cool. :p

100 TOTAL miles or 100 miles a WEEK?

LongRedLine4H

Total- told you I had a ****ty base. This was before I got into running. . .now I'm obsessed, as my regular posting here indicates.

Haha Zack Campbell, if your name is the same as your screen name, you could be atop these lists in a few years, it's just a shame you aren't going to North, South has no track skill/potential whatsoever.

I'm gonna go in for the upset and say Schroeder wins, with Merra second, and Hall third, or maybe even not in top 3.

ZackCampbell
07-19-2005, 03:27 PM
Haha yeah, it's me.

As of now, South isn't excellent, but I know of tons of strong runner's coming here. I.E. Chris Mentas, (We went 1-2 in the Junior High state meet) And by the time we're seniors, we should have a load of talent on the team. (junior high runners who you haven't heard of yet ;) )

Because Shroeder goes to his school. ;)

ZackCampbell

Just saying that he is most likely hoping that Hall won't be up there, because that would mean less competition for his teammate.
