i had anemia early this year during xc, that season really sucked cause of it. but it can be caused by diet or blood loss, and more but those are the most common. i would get a blood test (if you haven't yet) to make sure that you actually are anemic. if you are try to increse iron in your diet: red meat, legumes, etc (look online for some more). i also took a iron pill with 325mg of iron (about 361% your daily value). but be warned: only take iron pills if your stomach can handle it, try it once and if it gives you cramps or diarreha then stop. i got off the iron pills because after a while they caused my iron to go too high, that can have just as bad an effect on your performance and can also be fatal. if you have anemia go to your doctor first and they will do a series of blood tests and tell you what to do. here's a website with some more info. hope this helps and hope you get better! :)

My girlfriend is boreline anemic, she is taking the iron supplements and seems to have no ill-effects as far as running, having a great season. Hope everything works out for you.
