That's a huge improvement from last year.

I think he is the best sophomore distance performer except for Ryan Sheridan thus far this year.

no, probably nothing else that matches that but i think the soph class is pretty good. a hand-full of guys (if not more) under 4:20, 3 guys under 9:20, including 1 that ran 9:13 for the full deuce at Arcadia. 2 sophs at or under 1:55... and a soph running 46.x in the 400

maybe a strong warning was necessary instead of banning, however Chief was directly and deliberately insulting another poster. That is the stuff they are trying to keep off of these boards, so it clearly was unnecessary. So for him to come onto the National Board, when generally he stays on the California board, and start threatening to ban people for something as small as commenting negatively on someones username, seems a like huge favoritism, especially when the user happens to be an elite from none other than California. We don't see Arcadia patrolling the boards pretecting unheard of people from getting there usernames made fun of.

Doesn't matter which state anyone is from. Am not sure which state you are from -- and it doesn't matter. If you go out and start publicly ridiculing and demeaning others, you too will likely get bounced.

Folks, these boards are meant to be for friendly interaction, perhaps as a bit of an educational means, maybe an exchange of ideas, and bringing others up to date on happenings, among other things. These board are not meant as a forum for demeaning others irregardless of what state one is from.

Banning due to one's username? No. He called a kid a loser. These boards aren't for that, that's all. Hopefully these boards can be a forum where athletes can be more positive toward each other.

Maybe some sort of PM warning or if possible a brief suspension from posting to show that the new boards are a bit more strict. Given that we don't have time to read every posts on these boards, we're going to respond to what we read and are informed about. That's what the "report post" feature is for.

We moderators try and be as fair and unified as possible, but context and subjectivity are always going to come into play in this environment, no matter how hard you try to be totally consistent.

Persistance and defiance on the part of the offender were, I think, two factors in this case and they continued to bear themselves out after the original incident. Like I said, we will try to be unified and we do consult on actions that one another has taken. We will not second-guess each other in public; that's not the way to run a team.

We also will always try and consider what you write and make your cases about. If some of you have serious issues about anything, you can write us.

Responses aren't ALWAYS timely or may not be what you want to hear. We all have limited time on DyeStat, as we do a lot of things and some of us have other careers. For example, the last three weeks, my main priorities have been to try and respond to post complaints, technical problems, and just getting everyone registered and trying to keep out those who wish to make a mess of things (registration is not a simple process on our end). Unfortunately, I've neglected to respond to LL requests for the last two weeks and will be apologizing to those who asked.

Anyway, that's off-topic, but for any of you who've followed, say, Mike Oh's career, know that you can get second chances, but even those eventually thin out. Most of us have felt like we were wronged by parents, teachers or coaches at some time in our lives. Here is no different; you won't always feel our decisions are just. If this were a web site that you paid for, or was full of journalists and others making the big bucks, I would understand if your expectations were a little higher. Given that this whole effort is the result of the original volunteer efforts of one family to spread the stories of T&F & CC, and no one "makes" any money off it, you just gotta know everyone is doing the best they can.

arcadiainvite was probably looking through the boards and noticed a thread on corey primm, he saw something innapropriate and gave a warning, firechief chose to be defiant, and got a two week ban, big deal. arcadia invite does not have the time to go through every single thread, on every single board, to look for questional matertial.

Having fast PR's doesn't give somebody more credibility. They just mean you are fast, and nothing beyond that. It doesn't mean you are nice, or smart, or amazing at life. You just happen to run faster than somebody else. People like this track forum because it's welcome to everybody. It doesn't matter if we are fast or slow, we are all brought together by our common interest in track. That's what this message board is all about. Being fast counts for nothing on here. The only thing that counts on here is one's passion for track.

From what I understand, Primm didn't understand that some posters were joking w/ him on some thread on the Michigan board, and came out sounding like an idiot, b/c he couldn't sense the sarcasm. As a result, Fire Chief came to the conclusion that he did not like him as a poster, and he insulted him. Big deal. He was just reacting to the poster as he would any. I've seen countless posts much worse than Fire Chief's but nothing was done about them. The whole thing w/ Clifbar was much worse, but that was ok, b/c the admins didn't know him personally, and everyone understood that the teasing on the internet didn't mean anything. Any time a poster misses sarcasm or says something stupid someone'll make fun of him. Why should someone, (especially an established poster like Fire Chief) get banned for doing something that is done constantly on the boards, just because it was directed toward an elite runner who is known by the administrators?

bottom line corey primm= monstrous runner. but corey primm also= very nice kid, and definatly not a loser(ask anyone that personaly knows the kid, or just about any runner from cali).

This is exactly why FIRE CHIEF was kidding....he doesn't know the kid! If my girlfriend told me I was ugly, or my Math teacher told me I was stupid, or my best friend told me I smelled, then yeah I would feel insulted. If some kid thousands of miles away that has never talked to me or seen me told me any of this, I would shrug it off. Why get offended by a comment from someone that doesn't know you? And if for some reason you were insulted by a poster named "FIRE CHIEF" and it ruined your day, maybe you should seek why he called you that, and change it instead of further acting like a tool and proving his point.

Lest I forget that this kid IS just a "kid" and needs to learn more about social interaction perhaps. Hope he gets it. These things will either stick with him for life (In which case, he was doomed from the onset anyway) or he will learn to toughen up (And believe me you DON'T have to be very tough to take crap on here).

I am sorry to all of you for getting Firechief banned, but I had no idea he would react like that to my post. This thread has no point anymore. It isn't how much someone has achieved that defines who they are, and running a certain time doesn't set anyone anywhere. Truth be told you have to put alot of effort practice and discipline into achieving goals, but that only reflects one asset of your personality. At first I was not going to reply to this thread at all, but it aggrivated me that there was going to be a conversation about how I was a "loser" and now a "fairy" on the National Forum. It doesn't offend me, cuz Firechief doesn't even know me, but it bothers me that someone wants to put me down on this forum just for fun. By established poster I mean he's proven that he's not an idiot throughout his time on dyestat. Sure, he might have strong, widely opposed, opinions on sport teams, but (at least the posts I've seen) he doesn't regularly act like a dumbass like the other people on here. He usually has something to add to the convo, not detract from it. And yes, he's been on dyestat for a while. To my knowledge, he had not been banned before (at least since I've been on), which shows he's not just an ignorant fool like many other posters. So I didn't see why someone who never really had any previous infractions would get banned for something that didn't really seem that bad, or different from other dyestat activity.

O yea... and you really had a good argument using gay and homo- real mature... and there's a quote button at the bottom of each post :p

I'd also like to say that I think Cory's post was very respectable, and by defending FC I'm not necessarily agreeing w/ what he said.
