i think that 427 was a 436. it couldnt have been a dual meet. but if it was an invite then maybe. he ran a 939 at the barrington freshman invite.

So what does everybody think of him now. Those are some fast times. But if he did run 4:36 i think he definetly should be below 4:30 and definetly hitting sub 9:30

Now that we have seen 4:21 and 9:14 out of Kevin before the month of April is even over, is it time to crown him the best 1600/3200 Freshman ever? Last year Luke Ryan ran one of the top 5 freshman 3200 times in state history and Havel is already 14 seconds faster! The month of May will tell the tale, but since he didn't run indoors it's a good bet he is still far from peaking.
However, he will have some serious work to do to best Torres sophomore XC season, winning state and qualifying for Footlocker. (Especially, with the Dettmans, Popejoy, Craven, Finley and Morris back for their Senior Seasons)
Torres qualified for FL 4 times

Next year winning state may be harder than qualifying for footlocker!
wrong...if all those guys try for FL it will be just as hard. Then he still has to worry about the outta state guys like Perkins and Ige.

And the other Freshman from Minnesota Finnerty who got 10th last year. But historically, most Illinois guys peak for state. Guys with private coaches for footlocker like Mike Popejoy and Trent Hoerr actually finished higher at Footlocker than at state. Fed's guys have peaked for Footlocker. The Dettmans probably won't run Footlocker qualifying because of defending NTN. Palatine might also qualify, if there is any fairness in this world! That being said, I would not bet against a healthy Kevin Havel next November up in Wisconsin.
well hopefully Havel's coaches read these boards. And will let him try to get a national championship than a state championship

Havel is better than Torres as of now.
