View Full Version : Bye for a while...
homeless

...maybe for good...yes, by choice. Received no warning or anything, nothing hidden here...
But I can discuss ice cream and butterflies with my neighbors' kids.
This isn't over one incident. I realize the management gets to have whatever standards it wishes, it's their site, but this is over the idea that the Playground is run in rated X fashion and if anything here goes beyond "good sir, I think you may possibly be misinformed", all hell beaks loose administratively.
It's done publicly (unprofessionally) or with a "buh-bye" (unprofessionally)...
It is what it is. Inconsistent and stifling IMO.
No ill feelings on my part and hope I never offended anyone on here. Even you Ken. It's not personal, really not. I see where you are coming from, but you must also see where I'm coming from with our discussions.
I am very liberal in many ways, very conservative in many ways, and can be very strong minded...I'm well aware. :o
But I have always had a love for discourse, even when pointed, because that's what makes me grow and learn. I'm not naive enough to think I'm going to change anyones minds...but pushing gets the best discussions sometimes. The truth comes out.
I see a bit too much distaste for honest, sometimes emotional discourse IMO. Every discussion can't be sterile. The reason people typically stay away from politics, religion and such is it can get heated. Imagine our forefathers trying to keep Sam Adams and friends to "just above a whisper"...
Give me liberty or give me bannage.
Peace. I'm heading back to Jersey for a while...be safe over the holidays.

I agree, let's talk butterflies on the Jersey board.

Peace & Happy Holidays, Chris.
Hate to see homeless go, just as I hated to see TDaddy go -- both could be infuriating, but both brought a lot to the board in the way of energy, passion, knowledge and unique perspective... Hope to see them back again.

Did TD leave Dyestat or just the LL --his PM still works.

TD had his LL privileges revoked...unjustly.

i think in the next few months we'll see TD over on the college board bragging about his longhorns and their fine sprinters.
can't wait for track season.
I haven't been posting so much lately, but I really enjoyed homeless on the boards. I liked the "I'm really liberal on somethings and really conservative on other things" combo. Never a dull moment! Its a shame that he feels he needs to go.
I also miss TD. He was a master button pusher. I actually believe that all the heat he generated was for the good.

As I understand it the LL was set up as a reward for exemplifying good posting practices and to afford a platform for mature discourse. The mods (plural) never commented on the topics or the opinions posted by LLers just the level of social interaction . No name calling, do not personalize the comments---how simple.
LLers are held to a higher standard because we should be.
BTW ice cream and butterfly conversations may bore those bent on confrontation and turmoil but they have as valid a place on the LL as drug scandals,Supreme Court cases ,10K PRs and airport security threads..
If a topic does not interest you don't bother to read it-simple.
If adults can not "playnice" how can we expect the children to do it??
We DO want the children to learn how to "playnice"............................... don't we?

I don't agree with those that have said that without a small handful of certain posters and more specifically their posting styles, that this will turn into some type of tea party that talks about butterflies and fluffy clouds. I think that's a bunch of nonsense and a major cop out and is really just a way of saying that they want to continue to be able to have the personal insult in their posting bag of tricks. If that's the case, they do that daily in the Playground - where there are actually some decent "LL-like" threads on a fairly regular basis and where they have no holds barred with insults, etc.
The bottom line is that I see a very large difference between thought provoking and simply provoking. I've written some stupid and hot-headed stuff in my stay here over the years, but have hopefully improved over time. Several here that are adults in their 30s, 40s, 50s, etc. are demanding the mods to allow them to continue to act like 16 year olds by being allowed to continue with the taunting, insults, etc. That should be kind of embarrassing to you if you subscribe to that.
As a last resort, maybe there should be a no holds barred sub-section of the LL. You could reinstate all that have been tossed from the LL and allow everybody to go at it in there (with the "report this post" function disabled for that area). It would only be open (both read & write) to current/former LLers that want to debate in that fashion, but would still require you to keep the taunts, insults, etc. out of your posts when you jump back to the regular LL (if you are allowed to post there). I know that the mods probably won't go for it, but it's an idea that may fix some of the problems here.

Here are my views and some of these I am or have been guilty of as well.
First on Homeless, I consider him a friend, that now has been established.
I think once you kind of know what you are in for, you can choose, IN or OUT, THAT includes me.
It is freedom to post freedom to read.
On moderator function etc. I believe and have said so, on PM and publicly there was a little to much censorship or guideline enforcing for my liking, BUT I have to play by the rules r be banned, I KNOW that.
I personally think, this should be a "turn the channel" type of thing, if you d not like it, d not read it and certainly do NOT pst on a certain thread or topic.
On TD, I really believe he is a good man.In fact I HAVE zero doubt.
I also believe there was way too much race baiting done on here, I was (By TD)called racist right out in the open , and then alluded to being one, and folks that do know me, KNOW there is nothing like that about me.
Any one who agreed with me , was then labeled "one of you" or "all your boys" etc, it was offensive.
I like the idea of a wide open, UN moderated "read at your own risk" board or thread. If you do NOT like being agressively debated or bashed, Do NOT go on it.
My two cents.
I know I have pissed off way more than my share of people on here, in fact when I go to meets, someone might intro me, and the person who I am intro'ed to might yell out"So YOu're KING99"
I say , easy there, quiet, not everyone is a fan!!:D
Thanks enjoy the holidays.
Ken55 you should just call homeless and YELL at him once daily, or leave a nasty message, that would give him his daily fix.
hahahahahahaha

No non-drug, non-Sanya posts from TD outside of the LL since 2005 that I could see in a quick search.
can't wait for track season.
Ditto. Millrose in 64 days!
