I know that very rarely anyone looks at this forum during these months, but if there is anyone who can give me some information on either of these camps, it would be greatly appreciated. From what I have heard, they are both great camps, but are they any different from Foss or Westwood?
Please give me your input on the two camps, and any past history about either of them that can help in my decision for next summer.

The Running academy is great. Its an intimate camp sitatuated in the woods of Cornwall, CT. The max number of campers is capped at around 120, so the group is a lot closer than some other camps. We get world class athletes in every year... usually we have a "feature" guest speaker (Dan Wilson, Carrie Tollefson, Tim Broe, Chris Lear to name a few) and a few other lesser known but equally informative representatives from the running community. You sleep in cabins in a traditional "scout camp" setup, and you're outdoors 100% of the time, providing a great cross country atmosphere. The training is pretty standard for a summer camp: a few easy runs, a long run, and 1 workout (a relay based interval workout) is the standard workload, along with daily morning runs and a lot of sports and some drills and stuff to get you in shape. I highly reccomend this camp, as I am one of the few members who have attended all 4 years of its existence. It has made such a great impact on me that I will attempt to return this August as a counselor if my college schedule allows it.

Just some stats too for people who want to know about talent... in a camp of less than 120 total campers (boys/girls), last year we had:

the 2nd and 4th place Girls finishers at the CT state open, also the 6th and 8the place finishers at the New England Championship

HALF of the individual top 10 in the CT Boys State open (#3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9), AND HALF of the top 10 in the New England Championship (#4, 5, 6, 7, 10)

We had a 35th place finisher at Footlocker Nationals

We had the 5th best team in the United States, 2nd in the Northeast

One of the boys Social Groups ALONE (the smaller groups you are randomly assigned into in the camp to do social activities with) would have a 13:04 team average if you combined their Manhattan Invitational PR's

So yes, I am heavily biased in my view that the Running Academy is the ****, but it is, and you should make every effort to attend if you want to go to the best running camp ever.

Oh yeah, and uh... Green Mountain is good too...

Rob Murray from Danbury, Marty Ogden from Weston and Seth Specter from Xavier.

It's a really great camp.

Also there are two full threads about both the running academy and GMRC, so you should check them out for more info
