It is with great pleasure that I announce the launch of a high perfonnance track event,
The University Invitational. Both St Thomas University and the University of New
Brunswick have joined forces to offer a chance for high school athletes to compete at a
high perfonnance level by invitation only.

Invited athletes will be selected based on general qualification from the Maritime
Provinces, Quebec, Ontario, and the New England States. Although the meet is intended
for grade 12 athletes who intend on enrolling in university in the fall of 2008, some select
grade 10 and 11 athletes will be considered. The event will carry out two races: a men's
and a women's 1500m.

The grand prize for the winner of each race is a large merit award good towards
subsidizing tuition fees in fall 2008 pending enrollment (if winner does not attend STU or
UNB, then prize will be made available to second place winner, and so on.).

As the Event Director, I am now accepting athletic resume for all athletes interested in
participating in this high caliber event. The deadline for resume submission is January 11,
2008 so that they may be reviewed collectively by the event Selection Committee.
Resume can be sent via email to sdavis@stu.ca. More infonnation about the event will be
made to invitees.

Date: Saturday, February 16th, 2008, 11:15am women, 11:25am men, awards to follow;

Location:'Field House' indoor track, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. 166.67m track (same configuration as CEPS in Moncton, NB);

Registration: By invite only. No fees. One meal provided on campus with campus tour.

Yours,
Scott A. Davis

bump

This is an excellent way to get exposure to two Canadian Universities. A degree in a Canadian University is substantually less expensive than an american one. Also by the way things are shaping up there should be some great competition there.

The deadline to express intrest has been increased.

From the event organizer:

"Interest is coming in from as far as MA,USA (4:17male miler and 4:55 female miler) and even Kenya... but not much local talent yet. I'm not sure why, so let me ask the locals this: why would you turn down the chance at a free high performance meet??? no fees and even a complimentary meal!

I hope a few more NBers get in touch with me soon so that the local talent can be well represented!
