So who's competing this weekend? I understand that this meet is the largest of its kind in the country.

I didn't run though because my knee was injured.
I think it's usually a little under 11:00.

Daaaaaaaaaaaamn.
edit: that's a scary throw for a sophomore. With some work in the weight room and some more fine tuning of his release, etc. we could (don't quote me) possibly see 60 feet by senior year. That would be awesome.

Are you joking? 56 feet in January sophomore year? If he hasn't thrown 60 feet by senior year he should kill himself.
That is an INCREDIBLE mark, IIRC that is around Chakouian's (sp) record in the small-school meet.
Edit: realized it was hayesc, of course you are joking. :o

Not very great times in the 1000 today. My sophomore there was Brett Sullivan winning in 2:38 and me in second in the 40's.
Then last year winner was Masse in the 40's.
What's going on this year?

Great race between Brookline's Brendan Grove and CM's Ed Colvin. Grove out kicked Colvin in the last 50 meters great race by both.

Wow, that's pretty special. Reppin' the Cape real hard right now.
So if he goes 60 this year indoor or outdoor... what the hell could his limits be? Maybe he will have to start throwing with a 16 to level the playing field.

Meet Record: * 67-10.75 2000 Jeff Chakouian, Seekonk HS
Thats the state meet record. Could be a little better than that but I dont think Jeff threw much further than 68, correct?

Whats the state record in the shot?
63'11" indoors, Chakouian from 2000 nationals where he got 2nd place to Kevin Bookout's 65'7.75"
Right now his throw from today doesn't put him in the top 25 (that's as far as my list goes - cut off is 57'6.5") and I'd be surprised if he's in the top 35-40 or so. He's got a looooooong way to go.
EDIT: This is the first time I've looked at my all-time performance lists in a while and I'm really tempted to get working on it again. . .I've got a couple of free days before I go back to school where I have a lot of down time to do nothing but look at results.

Great race between Brookline's Brendan Grove and CM's Ed Colvin. Grove out kicked Colvin in the last 50 meters great race by both. Great grind!!!! This meet is terrific for the underclassmen to go against each other. From the looks of it, there are more than a small handful that will be on the line and in the pits come all-states.
BTW....3,027 over two days. Biggest meet of its kind n the country. Massachusetts is a hot bed.....

Go get a girlfriend and go to a movie you killjoy....no one SAID he would break the all-time mark.

What is your problem? Ecliptica was in no way posting as a "killjoy." The guy's done a lot of work compiling his lists and I, for one, am happy to hear him tell us how this mark compares to the best.
(I've noticed that your antagonizing posts seem to come in the wee hours of the morning. I suspect I know why. Smarten up!)

Well, you need to at least make it a top 30 so my 57-5.5 can get up there!

Yup, the shot was a jaw-dropper, but another one was this guy from Andover, Chris McConnell in the dash.
Holy cow. In the prelims he ran a 6.51 (yes, FAT). That's the fastest time in the state this year.
In his heat, it was unblievable - he just kept pulling away and pulling away from the pack. It looked like two different races. Great start, and great top-end speed.

Could have been a very tactical race. Look at how all the times are bunched close together; probably came down to a sit and kick.

The splits in the early part of the 1000m were pretty slow. It looked like the runners were being very cautious - nervous about taking it out and hurting at the end.
I can't say what the runners were thinking - that's just what it looked like.

He's got a long time to move up that list as well. Not sure where this puts him all time for soph's in mass, but it has to be pretty high up there.

I think he's referring to the large schools race, if I'm not mistaken. It went out even slower than 64 in the 400. But, you're right, that 3:01 is alot like Pre's race in Munich! Just kidding, man, nice job.
