Millrose Games to feature new HS Boys 4x800m Invitational

NEW YORK CITY (Jan. 4, 2008) – Organizers of the 101st Millrose Games announce the addition of a new Border Clash High School Boys 4x800m Relay, featuring top New Jersey and New York schools from the tri-state area competing in the world’s most famous arena.

Four teams from New York will be chosen based on top marks from the 2008 season. The final qualifying date is Jan. 19, 2008. Two teams from New Jersey will also be chosen. The Millrose Games will continue to feature a CHSAA 4x800m, which traditionally is one of the most exciting events of the evening. CHSAA and PSAL teams will not be eligible for the Border Clash 4x800m.

Warwick has their County Champs the next day so don't be so sure they would accept IF invited.

seems wierder to me they would not split it at 3/3 how can you have a Border Clash with an uneven balance in race participants?

Hey, if they keep adding these type of races to the meet, it might actually start to resemble what it used to be. TONES of college mile and 2 mile relays...oops! Many of those teams no longer exist and they can't get the track back together anyway.

Doesn't matter...I'm GOIN'. First one in 1960 or 1961, but no Mustang Harry's back then. Come to think of it, it was a completely different Garden at a different location.

I think they are saying South Jersey teams are not included. Since nobody considers them "tri-state area". ;)

8:28, are you sure about that? Don Bosco and CBA go at it and only produce 8:28?
Huge surprise if that's true.

Results still not up, but CBA finished a few steps ahead of us. Unofficially, I had our time at 8:24.2. I cannot speak for any other teams, but it was not our "A" team. Probably 1/2 of our best team right now (Molke, Wyka) with our other probable legs, Wexler and Suozzi, running other events.

The Millrose news is exciting, but not as exciting is it would have been for us last winter!

I agree with the IRONMANCOACH. We would of been right there last year at this point with qualifying.

For the 4x400, Last year we were 3rd at 3:24 in qualifying. This year, 3:27 won it. what a difference a year makes

Warwick is plenty well known, I know them as one of the most well rounded Track and Field programs around, they cover all events and at high levels almost every year, very solid RElay Teams etc.

What is it North Jersey doesn't have besides you and Roob? (and there are two benefits right there).

Oh, the Eagles. That's three.
