Ok I've seen a lot of debate about this in threads so i decided to make a poll and get it decided

Do you guys do your core work every day or with a day off or any other combination?

please explain

I aim for 5-6 times per week. Every day seems excessive. I generally don't do core work after a long run, workout, or if I'm just feeling really really tired.

what i've been doing
is
day 1: Lifting and a little bit of core work
day 2: Lots of Core work
Day 3: Nothing lifting or core

That sounds pretty solid, good to give yourself a days rest in there.

You can do any number of things regarding core training. Just like so many aspects of training, there is no single right way for everyone. Different strokes for different folks. It would be very easy to come up with a plan that would work the core every day but work different areas so as to give you rest if you felt so inclined.

um, that's pretty much every day.

or you could do it my way, after every run. you think it's excessive til a girl takes your shirt off while you're grinding all up on her. true story, happened to me once.

I usually did 100-200 contractions a day. Just simple variations from day to day. Usually on the days I had a long run I would do more ab work too. I've found most anythings you do in training help, some more then others, but as long as you believe in what your doing.

Very true. I'm just trying to find something I believe in that will help the most

yeah only once. i got older and stopped going to bars as much and started running faster (i believe there's a correlation there too). she must've been wasted beyond belief to do that.

I do core and weights 3 times a week.

I alternate core with legs/arms lifts from day to day. Obviously the day before and the day of a meet are non-workout days, though.

If it's intense enough, you only need 3 times a week, or every other day. If you're just doing crunches and situps you can probably get away with doing it every day.

i try to do it every day, and i usually get a good streak going of about 4 days or so then i get lazy and take like 2-3 days off.

In the off-season I try for 5 times a week....everyone needs a day off or two....during the in-season...4-5 times a week....lay off the day before a race and the day of the race.

you can switch up which muscles you work, there are so many different core excersizes you can do. Personally, i try to do push-ups and sit-ups and pull-ups every day during the week and then other core stuff maybe 3 times a week.

If you want endurance you want to do them pretty much every day, lots of reps, not as many sets. If you want them to look good/stand out/be strong, then you should be working on doing them 3-4 times a week with lots of sets, and not as many reps.

I've always run my best when I wasn't doing any core work or weights. That said, I'm trying to hit the gym 2-3x these days. My hip abductors are sore.

bump for the arguments going on about how often to do it

it depends on how hard your core workout is.

My girls team does core everyday but it isnt that hard

i do core about 2-3 times a week but it is much harder

just from this situation it turns out i have a much better core then my girls team haha, but that is just one situation

I do core twice a week, but my core workouts are around 30 minutes or more. I will completely cut off core two weeks before a big race.

now that i've grown older and wiser
I've changed what I do to being for a 7 day week (as most weeks are) this combination of my 3 routines

1: medium
2: Hard
3: Medium
4: Easy
5: Medium
6: Hard
7: medium

Depends what you mean, I do 4 x 50 crunches + 3 x 15 pushups probably 5 times a week, but do a legit core routine probably twice
