Emily Jones is entered in the two mile. While I'm disappointed that there won't be another Jones-Dahlberg matchup this season, I'm thinking that Jones-Karys matchup at all-states might turn out to be pretty interesting as well.

Based on the seeds, I have them scoring 74 points. Still a rout though as second would be North Reading with 30 points and third H-W with 29.
The most points scored in divisional meets in the coolrunning era:
Girls:
Hopkington - D4 (04) 88
*Newton North - D1 (05) 85
Hopkington - D4 (03) 72
Hopkington - D4 (02) 68
Needham - D2 (99) 66
Boys:
*Gloucester - D2 (00) 80
Brockton - D1 (00) 66
Wayland - D3 (03) 65.33
*Newton North - D1 (05) 65
*Brockton - D1 (01) 64
*-won all-state title that year.

With her achilles being an issue - let's hope she actually runs. Maybe she'll take it "easy" at the Class Meet - maybe 11:00 min - to rest up for All-States

They post it in the file with all the qualifying times. I will try to find it.
At this URL : http://www.miaa.net/Track-Indoor-Format-07-08.pdf
Open the PDF, i believe it is the same for all meets. It should be listed on page 8.

I think, but could be wrong, isnt that close to the national HS record? or am i mistaken.
It has got to be yards, if you search his name at direct athletics (url: http://www.directathletics.com/athletes/track/1698962.html ) He has run a 1:27(MSTCA Winterfest) which is listed. So it is probably in yards, or just a typo.

Wow. . .yes they are. Excellent work. I didn't even notice when I was going through the lists the first time :D
After this weekend, I'll update it again and post the lists so everyone can see what'll it look like for All-States.
There have already been 11 all-time performances this year, with McConnell having three of them in the dash. Hopefully we can add another 11 or so just from this weekend :D

People are trying to avoid the force that is Ryad.
Comis has serious speed, and I would not be surprised if he ran around 35.7. His 37.64 seems to come from a dual meet on the Lexington track. I don't think he has run any big meets at reggie in the 300. Plus if Bakhtiari had been in the 6, that could have pushed him to third place, whereas first seems very possible in the 300.

Comis is a good 300 meter runner as well as a very good long jumper )if something clicks he could win that at the state meet) and running the 300 could factor into that just because of his legs still being with him for the end of the meet relays. He is a stand up guy and a good athlete, last year if I remember correctly he hurt himself right before the class B meet outdoors and still came and watch and gave congratulations to everyone.

That was Mahoney that got injured just before class B.
That also makes sense about the relay, considering Reading has one of the top 4x4s and top 4x2s

Ohhh yeah. Nvm I remember why I like Comis - he just barely missed qualifying for all-state in long jump but then was over by the pit in Holyoke and came over and gave congrats to Powell and I.
edit: and by that I meant he qualified for All-State and got injured before that meet.

I think you missed the Somerville shot putter and Attleboro entirely. I also split up the HJ points if it were a tie, and moved the Westfield hurdler into the 55 where it seems clear she belongs. Based purely on the seed numbers I get:
1) Lincoln-Sudbury 71
2) Newton South 56
3) Andover 34
4) Haverhill 22
5) Somerville 21.25
6) Acton-Boxboro 21

9) Newton North 18
Illness or injury can have dramatic effects, but assumining everyone is healthy...
I agree, this will be closer than the score indicates, because before the relays start it is LS 51, NS 48. NS will get a big boost from getting Candace Bailey back. She dropped from 7.69 to 7.42 in her first two meets back so could add more points in the 55m, but her real impact could be moving the 4x2 from 7th to a top four spot. Dahlberg and Karys look like locks in the distance events, but the SP and 2nd place in the mile are a little more vulnerable. They need to hold onto their top seeds, get a big day from Bailey, and hope LS falters somewhere. Their top potential for this meet looks like around 72 points, which could give them the win.

2) Westford 33.25
3) Tewksbury 33
4) Reading 30
4) NDA- Hingham 30
6) Mansfield 28
7) Franklin 22
8) North Attleboro 22
9) Beverly 21.25
10) Central Cathloic 20
Can't get much closer than this.

Illness or injury can have dramatic effects...
Let's hope not!
I think when and where these marks were run has a great deal of an impact. Some of these kids have run their times in hotly contested races, hence they've done perhaps all they could do (or were in such a tight race, things could have slowed from box-ins or tactical decisions). Others were run by themselves in dominating fashion. Hard to say who will run what performance this weekend.
It'll be the best teams that step up, ignore the seeds, and race the competition. I know I have kids seeded lower than they are expecting to actually finish. Now, it's up to them to prove they belong up there.
It should be alot of fun.

Comis is a good 300 meter runner as well as a very good long jumper )if something clicks he could win that at the state meet) and running the 300 could factor into that just because of his legs still being with him for the end of the meet relays. He is a stand up guy and a good athlete, last year if I remember correctly he hurt himself right before the class B meet outdoors and still came and watch and gave congratulations to everyone.
i wonder if that is the reason simply because, it is kind of debatable what would take more out of his legs, 1 600 or 2 300's, because aren't there trials from here on out?
either way i'm sure he chose the 300 for a reason, i just asked about him to see if anyone knew the conditions under which he ran his seed time in the 300, and someone already has said the conditions, so im sure he can go a lot faster now

In D1, its curious that B-Line has chosen to race Gibson, Burnstein and Wilson all in the 2 mile. The more conventional thought would have RGibson in the mile with more time to recover for the 4x800. Doubling back after the 2mile is do-able, esp at the Divisional level, tougher at All States.

Cept you dont get 30 pts for three first:p only 24, give RGibson first in the mile -10/then Burstein/Wison 18 in the duece you get 28, but the potential for that being repeated at All States would be seriously challenged by the formitable group of PGilmore/DHausherr/ARaduazo/DRoark/PGalebach etal

Well, it's anybody's game for 3rd place.
From Friday's Metrowest Daily News:
Meanwhile, Lincoln-Sudbury girls coach Mel Gonsalves takes the opposite approach to his team's state title chances at Sunday's Div. 1 meet. According to the longtime coach, it's a "three-horse race," with Newton South and Andover posing the biggest challenge to the defending state champ Warriors.

The title for this post was "Fuel for the Weymouth fire? " I don't get it. In the same article it mentions Marleboro's coach speaking about Franklin, but no one posts that he was slighting Westford, Tewksbury, Reading, etc. which are frankly a lot closer to their team title than Weymouth. It seems like it is trying to create a controversey where there is none.
Ironically, the inspiration for Weymouth's efforts can be drawn from this year's favorite though not in the way suggested. Two years ago in the Spring before they had started their dynastic run through girl's track, I don't think LS had ever won a league title, much less a class or state title. Even though they had won the Class A meet that year, the deep competition in D1 had stripped away their upperclassman, leaving them with four sophs and a freshman at the all-state meet. The seeds for that year did not have them in the top ten teams. Yet Mepham went from 6th seed to 3rd in the 800, Jamieson went from 5th to 4th in the 400 and then anchored the 4x4 from 3rd seed to 1st place in a photo finish. The freshman Romeri won a dramatic pole vault victory and their first state title was won.
It happens.

Taking third would be worhty of a trophy, since there are a bunch of excellent teams that you would have to beat to get there.
It seems your best chances for adding big points are Bennett and Connolly, although the middle distance in D1 is brutal. Bennett is well placed to move up in what is a deep 600 (nine runners under 1:40!) since she is in the top heat. Connolly might not be so lucky. I can't remember whether they run the top heat in the 1000 in lanes or not in the division meet. If they do run only six in the top heat, then the seventh seed in a deep field is especially difficult since she would be the fastest runner in the second heat, so might not have anyone pulling her along. If she scores good points in the 1000 out of the second heat she deserves some special engraving on the trophy you make. Regardless, she has a good shot at making the all-state meet though as one of the next four.
I'm also looking forward to seeing Corcoran in the mile (you did have something up your sleeve!). The battle for second in this race will be a beauty and Dahlberg should pull them all to fast times. With Mahoney and two quality relays I can see your team getting into the 30's with a really good day.
A lot of teams have indicated they are primed and ready though. Reggie is going to be rockin this weekend.
Good luck.

Ah, I don't think LS meant anythign by that. Andover won Class A relays, so they are certainly another favorite for the top 3 spots. We have to earn our way onto LS's radar!

That generally means 1 of 2 things. He didn't run hard enough, or you went out to hard which many runners do in the 600. Either option means one of you two has more in them.

probably a combination; I led through the first 200 in 25.high so definitely a little too fast (Give me a break, it was my first time running the 600 meters lol). Also I feel that Ryad probably put in enough effort to win comfortably without running his hardest race, because we know he is capable of a little faster and he may have wanted to save something for the 4x4

It was my first time racing 600 meters. I have run 600 yards twice this year and once last year. I focused on the 1000 all season until I realized I was better at the 600. Just like last year when I focused on the mile all season, and then realized I was better at the 1000 at the end of the indoor season.

Wasn't trying to come down on you, just saying that one of you two had to have a better race in them for the race to end up the way it did. If you went out in 25 that's not TOO crazy, but you def have a bit more in you. that extra second in the first 200 can make all the difference at the end. a mid 26 would do you just that extra bit at the end.

To elaborate on what Burnstein said, Veiga went out in the lead with the rest of the pack hanging a little back going pretty slow. Wortham was towards the front of the pack and I think he went through the 1/4 in 73, the 1/2 in 2:28, and the mile in 4:53. By that point the pack had caught Veiga and Burnstein and Gibson began making a run for it. Behind them was a pack of five or so more guys that eventually got pretty spread out.
