87.66m at Mt. SAC = 287-7 for the Jav star ... I think it's an inch or two off the AR.
Also, Wallace Spearmon 19.97 200m ... may have already been mentioned

I can't imagine what it would be like to see a 287' javelin throw in person. I'm amazed by the 3 guys on my team who throw half that distance

My freshmen year in HS.. there was this bad @$$ from Ottawa, KS who threw something like 215-230 range. Their team was so awesome at Jav. Back then that their 3rd guy was a 180+ thrower & I think their 2nd guy threw 205 or so. It was amazing to watch those guys, so I couldn't imagine someone throwing nearly 50% farther & I'm sure a HS jav is lighter.

Hs jav isn't lighter, however depending on when you are talking about it used to be weighted differently making it go further. They changed that though about 3 years ago....however many schools didn't exaclty have the budget to just go buy new javelins....so sometimes people get away with using old javelins if ther'es no weigh in.

Wallin Gabriel of Boise State won a very thick field by throwing a stadium record of 248-06 yesterday at the Golden Bear Invitational at CAL. This toss makes Gabriel the leading collegiate thrower so far this season.
CAL's Paul Teinert who PR'd last week with a 235-09 at the Texas Relays came in second with a throw of 229-02.

Man I hope he can stay healthy. He's got one of the strongest arms I've ever seen (even though it's not really all about arming it...).

Ya, that was back in '95... so it may have been different then.

Ah yes, they were using a different javelin....nto sure which one though....there's been more then one change to the jav. The last one at the HS level was in 2002...not sure what before tehn. I think there wsa a change on the international level in 1997?
