:D Im from aus and when i went to Hawaii i went to one of the nike stores. I asked to see there range of spikes and they said they didnt have any . They told me they have to get shipped in from the mainland.Seriously dissapionted, because i know the us have a really good range of shoes!
my team and i ran there. we're from california and it was SO humid! and the course itself wasnt that hrad.. but i think that the fact that it was so humid that made it all the more harder. but it was a great race AND trip. i loved it there.
and just in case anyone cared. i got 2nd for the girls varsity race and my team got third overall (Vista, CA). fun stuff.

I'll ask this again, is there one school district in hawaii?
RunningHI
09-20-2005, 04:00 AM
oh no..theres a couple...the KIF Kauai Interscholastic Federation, which has the island of Kauai and a couple schools from the really small islands close by. Theres the Maui Interscholastic League which is Maui and Lana'i, i think. The Big Island Interscholastic Federation for the Big Island. The island of Oahu has two divisions. The OIA, which is Public Schools, Oahu Interscholastic Association. And finally the ILH, which is Private Schools, Interscholastic League of Honolulu. Thats pretty much it..haha

RunningHI

haha...it shouldnt be that bad..supposedly majority of them are going to die down soon..or just miss the islands

Hawaii XC is kind of broken... Kamehameha won 7 of the last 8, and no public school has won since 1982. Hard to imagine things being any different this year, but good luck to all the competitors nonetheless, one of these days things will get shaken up.
This year's big question is, will Lauren Ho make nationals this year after finishing 9th at FLWest last year?

that must suck having to take a plane ride to race agaist any kind of competition

She's got to sit for 6 hours in a plane. That's going to be the tough on her back.

Lauren Ho won state title again today in 18:11, a nearly 30 second margin over 2nd. On boys side, Jeremy Kamaka'ala won for 2nd time in 3 years (lost by less than a second last year) in a breakout time of 15:22.
Lauren, who experienced back problems earlier in the year, has been working toward the FL west regional (where she finished one spot out of the money last year). It's going to be tough this year, however. West region is absolutely brutal with Lawrence, Hasay, O'Reilly, Blue, Murphy, Tarver, etc...
I think her best shot to qualify for final would be to hang back, let the young guns flame themselves out, and then make a late charge.
As for Jeremy, if he goes he'll have to improve by another 30 to 45 seconds to have any shot.

jeremy had a nice run today..he took down Todd Iacovelli's course record by 22 second. Not bad.
