quote from Chris on his bio.
As Chris tells it, the miles were more than worth it. "In my first season I was fifth-best freshman on my team. In my fourth, I was the second-best runner in the nation."
very humble and congrats on the big honor. Also noticed that Steve Couch from Naperville Central got honorable mention, which is not too shabby.
If you look through that there is an overabundance of track and cross country athletes named to the All-State Academic team. Application must have been skewed in their favor.
Congrats to Derrick.

10 of the 26 ran XC and 14 of the 26 were on track. Glad to see great representation not just on the track or course, but also in the classroom (since I guess that is the whole point of high school).

Are these all track kids? I noticed several outstanding tracksters like the hurdler from Prospect Ziegenfuss, Amanda Schnack (Barrington), Paige Steffen (Bloomington), and Nimrod (Lincoln Park). Congrats to all.

Nope, I saw some volleyball, swimming, and bball in there as well (just at a quick glance). Track kids are just that awesome.

I also noted that another regular poster on these boards: O'Fallon's Josh Eickmeier won this honor last year.

Brent Rhodes from Monticello made it on the list too. He is from my area and it's pretty cool to see one of my competitors make to this list. Nice Job.
