Is anyone else really anticipating the theater release of this movie? I'm a big Burton/Depp fan and I've been waiting for another good movie to come along soon... I think this movie is going to be great.

I love both Tim Burton & Johnny Depp.

I do however feel that Depp might be getting a little too much play...don't get me wrong...he's talented, hot and I love him but "Secret Window, Pirates of the Carribean, Finding Neverland and now this?

meh...

Burton is great...I love Nightmare Before Christmas...woo I am excited!

i don't know about the new one, i liked the other one, it doesn't seem like a movie that tim burton is suited for. i'm not sure how johnny depp will do with the part either. should be interesting

This version is truer to the book. The book is not as cartoon-ish as Willy Wonka.

Depp is in a lot of movies that burton directs actually, so it wasnt surprising to hear that he was playing the part in this movie as well..

The original version is probably my favorite movie of all time. I loved it more than anything as a little kid.

I said this on the old Dyestat and I'll say it on the new Dyestat:

Tim Burton is terrible. I absolutely cannot believe he is trying to remake a classic movie. He should have to write an apology letter to every single American for ruining an American classic, just like Jimmy Fallon, Drew Barrymore and the Farrelly brothers should have to write an apology letter to every single Boston Red Sox fan for intruding on one perhaps the greatest moment in baseball history.

If you are joking, fine. If you are serious, get over yourself already.

They didn't exactly mean to have the ending of "Fever Pitch" end at Busch Stadium with the Sox winning. That just kind of happened as they were filming.

They had to rewrite the ending, because in the book they based the movie off of, the team kept their losing streak. They didn't just wander into the stadium and find a baseball game going on.

Here is Bill Simmons' article on the movie (HILARIOUS):

Is this a sequel to the original? Since I havent read the books I'm guessing that this movie takes place 20 or so years after the original and Charlie is in control of the factory. Since he did get the job at the end of the original.

Someone correct me please.

This is a movie based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The original movie had to be named Willy Wonka because the author, Roald Dahl, did not like the adaptation by the Director, Mel Stewart. As I said earlier, the original is much more cartoon-ish than the book. The new movie is a little darker, like the book.
