If kellen and TJ brennan run i think they have to be top 15 or so as well, saying kellen dropped a 1:57 in the first leg of the 4x 800, and tj has an insane amount of natural talent/dedication. And I may be biased, but I think kearns will win it all. Wyper is a phenomenal runner, I just think that Josh can do pretty much anything if he trains enough.

Just wondering.
I've always been considered a "good" runner for other sports.
With no specific training last year I ran a 5:30 mile for soccer.
Do you guys think if I actually put some effort in, and run everyday or so during the summer, I will be able to become a pretty good cross country runner? Is one summer enough to develop enough talent?

There are a few specific things that will/won't happen - I believe my previous list fit pretty well. Also, is Quigley doing XC? Everybody seems pretty set on it.

1. The only Danbury kid who can beat Remi, JP, and Willcaff is Ahearn.

2. Sophomore order will be Ahearn, Wright, Terry/Kane.

3. Wyper and Kearns will go 1-2.

4. Doying will beat Douglas K. considering Doying can go 1:58 and 4:30, and was close to Doug in the 5k, I think he's improved more.

5. Lysenko will still beat Terry.

6 .D-lynch and Raggazzini will not beat Kaplan and I hope not me. Remember, I can only get beaten by 3 kids shorter than me - these being Willcaff, Wright, and Terry/Kane.

7. If Quigley runs, he will not be so far back. Any sub-4:30 miler who isn't rediculously out of proportion in terms of their events would run a 16:40 or better.

8. D-Lons is a champ. Don't count him out of the top 25, he may be a sprinter, but he's also a Lonsdale. He'll be nasty if he trains hard this summer.

9. Schlemmer hasn't run for a whole season. It'll be hard for him to come back, and I'd expect him to be up around Hank and myself if he comes back strong, not in 6th or whatever the Danbury kids had him in.

10. I don't think any random kids who haven't been mentioned on previous lists will be 1st team, so a note to Danbury: no more completely random kids who run 18:00s will be up there.

i put terry over lysenko because terrys 16:51 5k was more impressive than lysenkos 4:47 mile at fciacs. also being that terry is a freshman, even if he isnt growing any taller(which i dont know) his body is going to continue to develop muscle mass and other things at a faster pace than lysenco whos a senior and probably near done growing. it just seems to me like terry has more improvments to be made. there gunna be close though.

i've never really thought of caffery as a distance runner. considering he ran 17:30 back when he was running 2:02(?) in the 800 and now hes at 1:57 i'm figuring hes gotta be good for atleast a 17:10 or so.

i think kaplan and devon lynch have to be good for a 17:15 or better as well.

i bet remi will run 16:35 or so next year. i have a friend i went to school with back in texas(dustin cherry) and these guys are similar in about every way. body types have to be close to identical. dustins pr's were 49.2, 1:56.08 , dont know his mile, 16:31 5k. i know its a stretch to say yea cuz this guy 2000 miles away did it therefore so will remi but honestly there twins. so with some good trainning i put remi at a 16:35.

i know that it would be really nice to see Kellen and TJ join us next year for xc, but the chances of that happening are not looking too strong. as much pressure they are under to make the jump to xc, they don't want to leave soccer. i know they will be training for soccer over the summer and doing additional distance training. it is gonna be a decision made right before the season begins.

if they did join, we would be in pretty good shape. despite losing pj, marty, and griff, our top 7 (in no particular order) with times at FCIACs xc last year, would be:

why do you think 400 and 800 times have anything to do with cross-country? If you're gonna put times down, put a 2 mile time down, previous xc time,or a mile time.

but that is completely blowing it out of proportion. the point that putting an 800 time down for them is showing what kind of shape they are in. caffery and hanrahan and remi all have already proven themselves on the xc course (remi first team, jp and caff second team.) the point of putting their 800 time shows speed and it does mean that they will do well. jp has gone 4:37 and 1:59 and caff has gone 1:57 and all train distance.

and caffery did run a 56 400 last year and he was all-fciac in xc....ironic how you brought that up

I know what you mean, it's just a way of gauging improvement. Additionally, if it comes down to say willcaff and another kid, Willcaff will almost definitely outkick him, so it's not like it's completely useless. A lot of Staples kids, particularly Remi, Willcaff, JP, and Dane, will have an advantage as they can probably outkick everybody else in their packs.

I know I sound biased saying this but Terry finished 10th at FCIAC last year, and i just don't see how he can drop down a place while he's been improving. Also, I think Willie without question will beat Wright and Lysenko, considering he dropped a 4:30 at opens, and has a better P.R. than Doug Wright by 20 seconds as he only ran the race once. I believe Brendan will get top 10 at FCIAC and Schlemmer as well, since earlier this season Schlemmer was running in the 4:30s on the track during workouts. I just think they will be very strong. I know that is extremely biased but it's my opinion.

If Schlemmer's doing 4:30s, then sure. The reason I think Terry will drop down is because of how much some kids have improved this year, as well as the possibility of Quigley running. Doying, JP, Ahearn, and Willcaff have all had phenomenal outdoor seasons, and I might be wrong, but I don't think Terry has improved much recently. I heard he was injured and this is probably why. Who knows, he might make a comeback. It's really too early to tell.

i think that the fact that caffrey has droped 5 seconds in the 800 is a reference to the strength he has aquired through the year. this strength will give him the capability to run faster in the 5k while not feeling the effects of it. rather than running at 5:30 pace and being at 80% of his total capacity he can now run at 5:30 pace and be at 75% of his max capacity. so droping 5 seconds in an 800 will help, or atleast it would make sense to me.

Chris Barnicle and Kevin Tshirhart are gods... 350-52 1500, KT had the biggest move/kick in the back straight i have ever seen, and beating the man the myth the legend Ramon tonight up in Mass.. i felt like a micheal jackson at an elementary school recess.. crazzzzzzy race and i got it all on tape..

I think it's too close to call. Both runners have grown over the year, and both are in MUCH better shape. We'll have to see how their summer training goes and how they are doing when the first meets come around.

All of outdoor Josh has been training for distance too. If you notice he didn't run on the 4x8 from FCIACs all the way until NEs. He's been focusing on the mile and 2-mile just like Wyper has.

It's really too close to keep on trying to call it. For now, Wyper's got the advantage, but I'm sure Kearns could catch up. well thats not entirely true. james is a distance runner and a damn good one at that and I think he will be in not only the top 10 at opens, but top 5. That's what I'm saying too, the first pack will be wyper and kearns and the second will be kids like Remi and doying. I'd give Remi 3rd and Doying 4th. Doying's nasty, but Remi probably kicks twice the distance doying does and at a faster pace. I remember last year in XC I'd be 15 or so seconds behind Remi with a mile to go and he'd gain about 30-40 seconds on me in the one mile left. Remi is also a very smart racer, and he will definitely be at the top of his pack. By pack I'm guessing

From 3k and up no one is as dominant as James Wyper in the FCIAC. You can make a claims, but so far on the track and on the course, no one has put up such solid times. People also have been making the argument "well if they are close with 600 to go, kearns will have it in the bag." That is another unfair statement. Wyper still has speed. He goes through workouts in 2:08's and went 2:04 in the dual meet against us, meaning he does have speed. Yes, Josh's is better but I don't see it even being that close out of the woods.

also, why is everyone counting out doug wright, Kid threw down nearly a 10 flat and then didn't show up at opens, but kid can move. I'd say Wright/Remi battle for 3/4.

Convinced him first of all to go for the first time in his career. The it had seemed that ther trip fell through because at the end of the year it is too crazy with exams and banquets and awards. Laddie himself isn't even going. Then the school offered to pick up the tab on the trip, so they are paying for the 5 athletes, meaning kids who made the trip happen don't get to go.

But if we were going the whole time, he hadn't met the standard....unlike maybe the team that is asking the question. In defense the staples dmr or 4 x 8 hasn't run fast enough to hit the standards, but compiling pr's they run the standard.

for one i don't think many hit their seed time at FCIACs, me especially but that doesn't mean i didn't run that time before, and our class meet was horrible to say the least. But everyone has a bad day, because they may not run their seed time that day, but it doesn't mean they didn't run that time previously. yes there were a few that were "fudged" but eveyone did it so suck it up, it happened, and now it's done.

Ok that was a very ignorant post. First of all, how are you going to say that in Danbury you would get jumped. Danbury is the 6th safest city in America, and is home to the founder and CEO of subway, Peter Buck. He is a billionare and lives in Danbury. The only problem we have is the 15,000 illegal immigrants, but they are only around downtown. The rest of Danbury is pretty good. And don't talk about living in the ghetto. As Jon said before, we live in the richest country in America, so don't act like ur all deprived of a normal life. And quite frankly, you both sound rediculous trying to insult Jon. 1. the only thing that bothers me about xc, trackie, and hardnock, is that you guys come onto dyestat to make the users angry, start conflict, and then complain about the users who you initially offended because they make derogatory remarks regarding financial status, and future sucess, you three came on here to start trouble, got the trouble, then blame it on the kids you first offended

2. also, you three who are seemingly causing these problems are the only ones who will not identify yourselves, for what its worth my name is rob dalto, i just finished junior year at darien, i have nothing to hide behind, so why do u?

3.notice the last like 7 pages of bickering and BS that there were 5 people posting, xc, trackie, hardnock, crocks and hardcore, nothing was accomplished and nothing had to do with track, but when the track talk finally began again, everyone came back. its better when we talk track if you havent noticed.

4. i noticed something today with my coach when discussing nationals with my coach. we are sending a sprint med, and so is danbury, and we realized that roupp didnt run states, i assume that was to prep up for nats and then he ran the high-perf meet and ran like 2:01 is he gonna drop a hot bomb at nats? are u guys sending anyone else?

ruopp would have liked to run at states but he ran bad at opens. He keeps saying he wants to go 1:58 in the 800 so i guess we will see what happends...and for schlemmer all i can say is he better be able to compete during xc and indoor.

i just took a look at the results, and i see him down in the 800 and 4x400 at the class meet, and then didn't qualify for opens, so shouldn't it be he would have liked to run at opens, but ran poorly at state class? i'm not trying to nitpick just trying to clarify

Someone from the girls team was talking today about there being a running league at Waveny during the summer and that they have races every Tuesday. Does anyone know anything about this??

DMR is like 90% chance that they break I...I think. We calculated the times and what they run should be under the school record.

4x8 will be close. All of their PR's (1:57, 1:59, 1:59, 1:57) add up to 7:52. That's using Remi's indoor nationals time though, he didn't run his best that day. His 600 time converts to just below 1:55, I believe. Adding their projected PR's, (1:57.xx, 1:59.xx, 1:57.xx, 1:55.xx) they will run somewhere around 7:50 (+2 seconds for tenths.)
