I know that some of you may have participated in the trail runs at Deer Grove last summer. Here is the info/schedule for this year.

XTERRA is making its way to the Midwest for the extreme,
off-road XTERRA X-Country Trail Run 8K on June 7 in Palatine, Illinois.

Held in the Deer Grove West Forest Preserve, this 5-mile adventure will
require runners to scramble over winding roots, loose rocks and fallen
trees. The 1800-acre park will present a variety of challenges from
steep ravines and water-filled creeks to wild woodlands and hills.

The first of three races in the 2008 XTERRA Chicago Trail Run Series,
participants will be trying to start out the series with top finishing
points. The athletes earning the most points throughout the series will
earn free entry to this year's XTERRA National Trail Running
Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners can
compete in the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 7 in
Hawaii.

The Chicago Trail Run Series schedule is;

06/07/08 XTERRA X-Country Trail Run 8k – Palatine, IL
07/12/08 XTERRA Renegade Trail Run 10k – Palatine, IL
08/09/08 XTERRA XTREME Trail Run 12k – Palatine, IL

$30

I did it freshman year. It was a ton of fun, although I wish they had an 8k sometime in July. Its too soon after state for me to seriously race it

since it is a "series," do you have to do all three, or can you choose to only do one or two of them?

If your goal is to attempt to qualify for the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship in Bend, Oregon on Sept. 27, then you obviously would want to run all three. To contend for a regional series title you’ll need to race in as many events within the regional series as possible to score maximum points.

If you just want to have some fun racing "off road" (think Cross Country Challenge without the snow or cold) then just do the events that fit your schedule.
