Nice write-up. Cool history.
Shares his experiences of being part of the U of Oregon team with Rudy Chapa, Alberto Salazar, Matt Centrowitz, and other greats of that era, as well as his experiences with his brother, Bill (13:14 5k runner), who passed away at a young age, as well as his move from Oregon to Massachusetts.

I met him at a running camp i went to, as well as him being a coach of a team in our league. I have to say, he had a lot of insight to offer about the sport, and i benefited a ton from talking to him for 15 minutes. He is a really great coach. Congrats to him and his team.

Congratulations, Steven - a well deserved recognition of your talent and dedication to the sport. Helping coach the team with you last year was a true honor, and talking track with you is amazing! You seem to bring the best out of everyone, and do it in the most positive way - unlike some coaches who go negative. Your attitude toward the sport is spot-on!
So, heal that hamstring, dude. I have some friends who are eyeing the M50 4x800 world record this year. It would be great if you could be a part of that.

Congratulations Steve! I had the pleasure of meeting you three weeks ago in Hartford. I enjoyed your stories of Oregon, and all your running endeavors. You are truly a tremendous coach, and it shows you really care about your girls.
I hope your hamstring feels better soon....like you said to me..... you should
listen to your wife, she will give you good advice about your running!!
Good luck the remainder of you season!

Great coach, better man. Story is a great read. People should take the time to read it. Great insight.
I can only hope to have same impact with the young people I coach. Definitley a role model for anyone who coaches.

I saw Steve speak in Merrimack a few summers ago, and I really loved a lot of the things he had to say.
Congrats and good luck with the rest of the season.

Thanks OBE. Right back at you.
Truth be told though I wish I had more Steve in me. I think I'd be happier as well as a better coach and mentor. I think Steve is defintely more postive in his approach. We all have our own ways though and hopefully I'll continue to learn and refine to do the best job I can.
