haha Dan, why can't you just link to it?

Back on topic, I read in the Newton Tab that we lost to both CC and LS:

The South boys track team opened up with an 81-64 loss to Lincoln-Sudbury and 102-43 setback to host Concord-Carlisle.

Winners for the Lions were seniors Peter Jarowey in the javelin (135 feet) and Matt Starr in the shot put (36-2) and junior Sy Schotz in the high jump (5-6). Starr also threw his discus PR of 111, good for first against L-S.

Sophomore Joe Treff placed second in the shot put at 38-10, senior Dan Lau was second in the mile in 4:55, sophomore Sam Donovan was second in the 2-mile in 10:27 and junior Nick Abele ran his 800 PR of 2:12.

Sophomore Brad Pruente showed his tremendous upside in the 300 hurdles, running 44 seconds in his debut.

Burmeister told me about this thread, so I figure I'd get in.
First-I guess I dont know who you are, but clifbar is right about the skiing in the other thread, Fastzoom9sam. Being in the middle of an EMass ski league is not that impressive. We are the bad half of the worst state in New England. Trust me, nobody out of Mass. even respects Mass. States, not even second.
Also-I wanted to know if any of you knew who is racing mile for Westford and Wayland against us on Wednesday, or what times thier good milers have.
If you dont know me, I'm Matt Briggs from CC, my mile pr is 4:41

Dan
05-01-2005, 09:13 PM
nice, some CC people in here. I didn't know burmeister knew about dyestat. did he find out from maxime?
anyways, Keller or Stein can both go under 4:41, and Stein can probably take on anyone from CC in the mile.

CCBriggs1609
05-01-2005, 09:46 PM
Thanks for that
Does anyone know anything about westford? I dont think they're distance is great-we swept them in XC. Anyways-We should try to keep league leader boards on here.
Heres what I know-Burmeister did 4:40 mile and 10:03 2 mile on thursday. He lost to Waters though, who did a 9:54
We have one other guy who did a 4:44-Matt Phillippo
For 800-Carpenito's fastest i think is 2:06, but he had no competition.

He's you minus 2 seconds. Actually, Keller ran a 4:38.8 at DCLs last year. If he doesn't run the mile, then Stizz might. Stizz runs a 4:25.

At the Wayland/Westford/CC meet today-
Burmeister won the mile in 4:36, I was second in 4:40. Some guy from westford got third with a big PR. Keller was nowhere even close, little stein beat him with a 4:48
Phillippo won 2 mile in a slow 2:22.
Stein ran 1:59, Carpenito second in 2:05
Last thing I heard was Wayland beat us by one point in the meet.

Are you the girl I always saw at Reggie Lewis in the winter wearing a Haverford sweatshirt? I almost applied there, but decided that I didn't want to run DIII if I got in.

EDIT: If you're not a girl, disregard the question.

tayls24
05-04-2005, 11:48 PM
No, I'm not a girl, I'm the Taylor Burmeister. Also, there's no shame in DIII, especially a sick DIII team like Haverford (4th at NCAAs in XC). It's better than running at some DI school where the coach just ignores you if you're not on of the top guys and you stand no chance of ever winning any races.

Yesterday me and another kid from NSHS ran the Bay State Games metro qualifier at Harvard. Neither of us did too well, especially me, but we weren't the only DCL kids there.
We ran into Robert Deegan and a bunch of his friends, and I actually raced Robert (he beat me by about 4 seconds in the mile) and one of his teammates beat my friend by about 2 seconds in the 800.
Another kid on my team did shot and discus yesterday, and I'm pretty sure he won the shot.

Yah, our team captain was injured his senior year (he ran a 16:45 his junior year) and so the only kid that made a difference in XC '04 that graduated was Dalau.
Also, it's semi-likely that the last kid (Jon Lopatin) won't do XC; that's at least what he's been saying.

Our line-up should look something like this:
1-2 - Sam Donovan or Scott Wehrwein (both likely to be under 17)
3-5 - Kelton Finch, Brenden Olsen, Nick Abele (they could range anywhere from probably low 17's to mid 17's)

And there's probably going to be a close battle for spots 6-7 between me, Lucas Schwartz, another soph that I'm pretty close to now named David Plotkin, and Kelton Finch's brother Ben, who this year as an 8th grader ran 5:12.

A few DCL and ex-DCL athletes participated in the Bay State Games:
800:
10 172 Plotkin, David Newton Highlands, M 2:19.91
-He told me he ran a pretty bad race, and actually PRed in the 400 during the first half, but ran a horribly slow second 400.
1 278 McGrail, Wilson Wayland, MA 2:10.25
-This kid ran the Junior 800. I dunno how old he is, but he's definitely talented, and I'm assuming he'll go to Wayland High.

Lania was 4th at the 2004 dcl xc champs, and is the number 2 returnee behind del nero. so he has as good as shot as anybody. del nero seemed to drop down in distance this past spring, so lets see if he gets his distance back up and can be a favorite for the title. i dont really know what Lania did during track, but things do change in a year. if mike waters decides to run xc, i would consider him to have as much a shot as anybody else. also noah macneil is greatly improved and threw down some good track times, so he should be a contender along with andrew smith. and of course sam donovan from newton south could beat any of these guys on any given day. so Lania, it's a bold statement to say you are going to win, but you've definitely got a great shot at it.

good luck to all.

TheGeneral
08-01-2005, 01:17 AM

Hey it's David Plotkin from Newton South...
Anyhow, who's got reults from today's meets?
South ran very well on the tough NARA park course at AB. This are the results as i remember them; I'm pretty sure they're fairly accurate.

3 Miles NS 19 AB 40
1. Sam Donovan, NS, 16:41
2. Scott Wherwein, NS, 17:04
3. Zach Del Nero, AB, 17:06
4. Kelton Finch, NS, 17:07
5. THE CLIFFBAR, NS, 17:20
6. Brett Herrick(I think), AB 17:32
7. Nick Abele, NS 17:33
8. David Plotkin, NS 17:42
9. Teddy ______, AB 17:44
10. Keon Reed, AB 17:45
11. Brenden Olson, NS 17:49

That's as much as i remember of the boys meet.
The girls meet was won by our freshman sensation Kelsea Karys in 19:45; she seems like she's probably going to be evne (perhaps significantly) better than Kate Warwick of AB was last year, even though it is early

There's always been a few, like Mike Fisher, Ben Leipzig, Jeff Wehrwein, Nate Farber, Maxime Guillaume, etc... but they never posted much and were good at hiding their identities. Actually, Maxime was a hilarious poster is you can figure out who he is...

Yah, he's been doing some really intense training. If I remember correctly, he had one week of 79 miles, where one of the days was only 2 miles. Basically thats like 13 miles a day without an off day, or 15.5 miles a day with one day of rest.

Ricky is a good kid and I know that he regrets his summer post. He has no problem with his head at this point either in terms of ego or performance. He has done a great job of leading this CC team back to being a contender. He went for it early in the race today and hung on to run a very tough race. If Donovan had not improved so much he would indeed have been the DCL champion. Ricky showed a lot of grit today. So forget his past comment that he wishes that he could take back. He is doing a great job and I for one admire what he is doing. CC you are coming on strong! Go take D II by storm.

I'll be back for a month from mid Dec. to mid Jan., training with my boys at CC, and I might help coach them back to victory, though mainly I plan to dick around and train with them at practice and then look all official like at meets. How are things over at Haverford, Taylor? How'd xc go?

Well, I too was dicking around on the internet, and I realized I hadn't looked dyestat on a couple hours (yes, I have a life, but dyestat has become one of my 3 biggest procrastination tools in college along with facebook and letsrun), so I thought I'd check the New England board for the 4th time today, and what do ya know, the DCL thread is conveniently up top. I liked Taylor's alumni update so I guess I'll do the same.
I'm runnin for the U of P, and we kick things off on the 10th over at Princeton. After that it's hell week with finals and whatnot, then I'll be arriving back home in Wayland on the 22nd. I won't be training with my boys from Wtown, thought I'll definitely stop by a few practices, but if anybody has a Reggie Lewis pass they wanna lend me that'd be great, because there's no way I'm touching our crappy indoor track for a speed workout. I go back to school the 5th, so I doubt I'll catch any meets over winter break, which is unfortunate, because I definitely wanted to have the opportunity to reply to Oregon Champs in person, and be reminded that he was faster than me in high school (just kidddinggg Mr McC ;)). Hopefully I can make it to atleast one dual meet, so I can buy Mr. Lania a jelly donut as a token of my amends. After that I want to hit up the nearest chinese food place with Dalau and then give Clifbar a haircut.

As I've learned, many people beyond my knowledgable grasp read this stuff, so if you are out there, and you are kind of fast (or want to get me into Reggie), hit me up so we can do some workouts over break.

Sorry this post got so long, but I hate studying my spanish test tomorrow.

Yeah, Ricky plays basketball, and I'm not doing indoor (cross-country skiing--I hope I'm not too behind for outdoor), so for our heavy hitters it'll be Dan Fidler (mile) and Roy Bondurant (300/600?). Besides that, we have a couple guys doing the 2 mile (Ian Carr, Matt Knight), and a few other guys doing some other events. It seems like it'll be another interesting year in the distance events for both indoor and outdoor.

Meet today at the Reggie. Running events start at 5, and I think field events are supposed to start at 4:30, but it might have changed in the last year.
