No and that is why Czech Jakub Zivec (Grand Rapids, MN) will be running in it. He could very well win IMO. He is also running at NXN Heartland in Sioux Falls, SD so we will soon see what he's got in the tank.

I forgot about that Minnesota kid too.
It should be interesting to see how well he does at the Heartland region for NXN.

is this kid really legit? what has he run? 1502 once in the season in a JV race? has he done anything even remotley close since? i dont think so as his name is nowhere else on dyestat elite times. hats off to him on a great time earlier in the year (accurate course or not) but what has he done since?

He also ran a 14:53 that didn't get reported to dyestat... and then he ran a 16:55 or something, letting his senior teammate win the race, it was a mixed varsity/jv race... He hasn't been able to race in October since he's on JV, except for the 16:55...
If he doesn't destroy the field at NXN, i'd be completely shocked

Jakub Zivec isn't an "official" foreign exchange student and as such, according to the rules of the Minnesota State High School League, he cannot compete on a varsity team. Therefore, he has been stuck running on JV, which is permitted. NXN and FL have no such rules so he can compete in those races. He is staying with some relatives in the Grand Rapids, MN area while going to high school there. There are one or two threads about him in the MN forum if you want more details.

His nickname is "Kuba."

So my question is, based on things Rich Gonzales (ArcadiaInvite) posted in the hs elite forums, can Zivec advance to NXN from the regional in SF or is this just a showcase race for him and the top 5 non-team varsity-eligible runners advance? For the moment I assume he can't advance? Rich kept stressing that varsity-eligible requirement.

anyone know ho the competition is on the girls side? I know only girls from IL. I'm assuming Lindsay Flanagan will be close. Also watchout for Elaine Kuckertz who dropped the gap from Flanagan from 20 seconds to 7 seconds in one week. So does anyone know those two girls chances of making it?

Some kids seem content with the NXN thing. Plus, that is a lot of traveling/racing for a sophomore. I wonder if Wills would have done both had he qualified for NXN?

Joseph Manilafasha
Steve Sulkin
Drew Shields
Evan Appel
Derek Storkel
Jeff Thode
Jordan Hebert
Stephen Walker
Donny Roys

False... He hasn't been hurt, he didn't run NXN to focus on footlocker. He will more than likely be in the top 10 at FLMW, and could contend for the win...

They may not be times that are congruent with 5000m, however, Illinois is a legitimate distance running state. They always have been. IL has a chance at beating CO in the team race. Look for them to qualify at least two individually.

Of course no one is going to run 14:15. Illinois runs a 3 mile race on a flat and fast course for their state. FLMW is run at a hilly 5K course. Obviously their times will not compare. Will Illinois qualify a lot of people because their times were fast? Not necessarily, although it should be interesting to see how they compare against Colorado.

Colorado had a good performance but more importantly they have 3 of the top returners next year, also this years preformance doesn't include bobby nichols who is an elite runner. Look out for us next year. But no worries as the midwest always dominates nationals, or atleast traditionally has and I see no change in that trend!

ya but you don't have the top runner in Futsum Zeinasellassie. The top returner for Foot Locker. He'll only be a sophomore next year. So just remember he will be a force to have to deal with.
