I thought it would be intesting to list the runners from NY that are going to continue to compete in New York. Not just a list of the top notch guys that we read about signing on dyestat. But the ones that will make up the suny schools. So post the name, where from, event (sprint, distance, feild) and the School your going to. I'll start:
Shamus Nally (Burnt Hills)

i heard he's retiring but gets to appoint the new coach...
kinda unfortunate for the kids that decided to go there just because of him
(I'm sure he'll pick a good replacement)

Your correct, he is going out to Arizona but has assured that the next coach is a good one. He will also be available for help via email to all the Cortland guys. It is a shame he is going but hopefully it will help US running as a whole.

yeah, it's too bad about Jack, but the replacement will probably be a former runner of his, and since both he and the current team members have some say in the new coach, whoever it is will be good.

I just got home from a running camp at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center. Jack Daniels, who is a friend of the coach who runs the camp presented a few running clinics for the camp. He left a few nights ago for the Arizona Olympic Training Center at Flagstaff. He said it's at altitude, yet close (2 1/2 hours) to sea level. It's cold up high and warm down below. Lots of different conditions. Anyway, he is indeed leaving Cortland for Arizona to coach out there.

Cornell is pretty tough to get into. It's probably less difficult than Columbia and West Point, but probably more difficult than any other school in New York State. As an in-state resident, some of the other colleges (basically everything but Arts and Sciences) within the University will be easier to get into. If you're good enough to run for Cornell, that should help, too. If you run (or can run) the 5-10K events, that should help RoJo (distance coach) like you more, because while they're recently enjoyed a lot of mid-distance success, they don't have the best long-distance record as of late.

I checked out Cortland but didn't like it very much. I'm off to Plattsburgh State.
