I'm really really unsure why people aren't as sold on Neuqua Valley and why they are the distance 2nd in most people rankings in Illinois vs. Loyola. In the midwest meet here I think loyola barely squeaks by them but I think at the IL state meet Neuqua's depth may win out. I do think that 2nd and 3rd man power of Loyola could be too strong for Neuqua in a tougher field at like nxn mw or nxn nationals, the reality is that not all of the teams will appear at nxn and the field will be leveled out with a few weaker teams.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Weren't these the same guys who scoffed when you had York's Smith ahead of Driggs? While Driggs may still manage to finish ahead of Smith at the state meet, I think this season has shown that Smith has been about 3-4 seconds better than Driggs. Everyone now seems enamored with Loyola's newfound 5th man, but his Sectional race was probably 30 seconds better than anything he had done previously. Has he improved that much, or did he just run out of his shoes in that race? We'll see in a few days.

The knock on Neuqua early was that while their pack was impressive, they did not have enough low scorers to counter Loyola and York's big men. Dave Wing has been consistently around 17 seconds back of Beattie with Klimczak 6-9 seconds further back. Both Folster and Verbus have shown the ability to keep the 1-5 spread at 30-35 seconds back of Beattie, and the 6-7 men will probably finish ahead of Loyola #5 as well.

I think your projections for Illinois have been pretty solid. (I do have a Neuqua bias though, so what do I know).

Thanks and I kind of had that feeling about you but Neuqua is solid. I guess midway in the season Loyola's 4th started to improve quite a bit which helped close the gap and yeah their 5th guy has now made it close if he can repeat that. I was a little confused as to why Verbus and Folster didn't run sectionals, I was hoping they were fine and were just getting rested to run at state. I was going to do acomplete IL state meet and still might and believe me I haven't said anything since I first posted at the IL board and have been itching especially if a certain thing happens at state to respond back to everyone that scoffed and laughed at me. I did enjoy learning a bit more about IL this year. Wish I knew more about the courses but with all the rain this year its hard to compare past results with times as of late. The last two weeks in Indiana the courses were all jacked up.

Mark, for these rankings to work out, you better convince the North Central team to register. The one person I wasn't sure about was Bahlbi, and he is the only one registered. Also, according to one of their assistant coaches on IR (sorry for the citation), Bahlbi is not supposed to be registered. Furthermore, I only see Ginebaugh and Ferguson on the registration list. Maybe they got discouraged from this poll? However, they still have until the tenth to register I believe. I hope they do as well as some other top individuals who haven't yet. Good luck to everyone competing. Make our state proud.

-Judas Thomas Didymus (Giving me an award with a Biblical reference can only be a complement. You should be more specific next time because I assumed a misintended identity)

I keep liking you more and more every post you say. Noblesville will have a team out there but I know it won't be there complete varsity. Also North Central from what I through the grapevines will also have a team.

I love the whole Thomas Didymus thing, doesn't Didymus mean twin as well, he's been argued as Jesus's twin brother before.

This midwest ranking just assumes all the best teams in the midwest show up, its not necessarily predicting nxn mw. I may do that when i get a final sheet on who is showing up. Looks like no michigan teams at all so far.

I was under the impression that the Michigan rules prohibit their participation.

Or am I confusing Michigan with another state?
