really? That is outstanding , what year was he, a senior? I think this counts, altho I always wondered how HS marks count when you are clearly OUT of HS, this means anyone.

But I know they do.

Yeah, he's already graduated. Going to Texas, if memory serves (if not, I'm sure someone will correct me).

He's a senior. T&FN counts all marks up to September 1 after the senior year. No way this counts for the NFHS record book.

Almost looks freakish compared to this years monster throws.

Carter is number 1 who threw further than 75.x as well? When did Carter make his mark, I think at old keebler or GWI?In season?

Hey question, since there was a bit of discussion of when HSRs count until, does anyone know when you can set a school record until? Is it different for each school or is there a set or rules? Like would that mark be a school record?

Up to the school, as there is certainly no set of rules. There aren't even official high school records overall, unless you count the Federation records, which almost no one does because they are so exclusive. The high school records list mentioned above is simply that complied by the magazine Track and Field News, which is generally viewed as definitive.

Whoever is keeping track of records for a particular school (like the track coach, I would assume) can make their own rules.

There are set dates for each record.
If its a National High School Federation record it has to be done in a sanctioned HS meet. For the one that track & field news does it can be in an open meet and the date etends past graduation a little. There are also other records where the rules change as well.

Jack Shepard is the de facto custodian of HS records and lists. T & FN is a cool magazine and their 'net boards are good too. But it's notoriously unreliable as a data source for this sort of thing.

Shepard's data isn't online, to my knowledge. You gotta buy his little booklet.
