Default Great Post John!

What you said in response to Coach Rufus I found very interesting. I believe your picks are accurate and I really think Laguna is going to do something special this Saturday. I do think we should not be so quick to place Big Bear ahead of Notre Dame. Notre Dame as been improving all season long, but with a team like Big bear with several seniors, anything can happen. All we can do is wait and see, it should be a great race!

Default Combined Top 7 Team Times Fastest Over Last 6 Years

Overall, the CIF D4 SS Finals was a fast race. Some highlights:
  • Yesterday's top seven team times times, when combined, was nearly ten minutes minutes faster than last year!
  • With the help from an extremely quick Laguna Beach, the top seven team times for the combined D4 Southern Section State qualifying teams was the lowest overall time as far back as I looked from 2004 to 2009.
  • Number one Laguna Beach was even faster than the great State Champ Big Bear team in 2006 that was led by Chad Hall.
  • Even without the quick Laguna Beach in the mix, the second to through seven team times, when combined, was nearly eight minutes faster than last year!

It's a fine group of teams to send to State from the Southern Section. Good luck to them all.

Default The Rich Get Richer

The schools with a tradition of top CIF Finishes dominate the top podium places year-after-year.

Take a look at the CIF SS Finals historical finishes for successful programs like Laguna Beach, Big Bear, Bosco Tech, and Morro Bay (Bosco Tech moved down to D4 from D3 in 2009 and thus we don't have D4 racing history prior to this year but I'd guess from seeing them yesterday that they too would be a State qualifier in all years):

2009 CIF D4 SS Finals (Place '09, '08, '07, '06, '05, '04)
Laguna Beach (1, 2, 6, 2, 3, 2)
Big Bear (2, 1, 2, 1, 1, --)
Bosco Tech (3, --, --, --, --, --)
Morro Bay (4, 3, 4, 3, 5, 3)
Harvard Westlake (5, 7, --, --, --, --)
Notre Dame (6,--, --, --, 6, --)
Maranatha (7, --, 5, 5, 4, --)

Congratulations to the obviously fine coaching staff of these top programs!
