AMERICAN sprinter Leo Bookman, last year's 200m indoor US collegiate champion, has tested positive for a banned substance and accepted a public warning.
Bookman, 23, tested positive for salbutamol at the Jamaica International Invitational meet on May 7, the US Anti-Doping Agency announced today (AEST).
Bookman's first doping offence resulted in being disqualified from the meet, forfeiting a 200m second-place finish.
Bookman won the 2003 and 2004 US college 200m indoor crowns while a senior at the University of Kansas and also the 2003 US college 200m outdoor title.

Salbutamol is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency, although any athlete who provides documentation before a meet confirming a valid medical need for the substance can receive an exemption allowing the use of salbutamol.
