Default FCA-A new Camp in NH

Hi guys and gals!

I hope you all enjoy (or have already enjoyed) your running camp experience this summer.

I had the pleasure of coaching (along with women's coach Sheila Stawinski from the Univ. of Vermont) the first Fellowship of Christian Athletes Cross Country camp in Rindge, New Hampshire a week or so ago. (They had done Basketball, Lacross, Soccer, etc. for a few years and this year added XC.) We had a small but enthusiastic group of runners, and I am already looking forward to a much bigger group next year. There is a good variety of running available there on quiet shady paved and dirt roads and trails. It's on the Franklin Pierce College campus not far from the base of Mt. Monadnock. The weather was perfect for not just the running, but also for the post run rope swinging and swimming. The dorm facilities were more than comfortable, the food was better than any other camp I've been to (well, except for maybe ZAP Fitness which is perhaps not a fair comparison).

In addition to training ideas Sheila and I covered stretching, race tactics, Sports Psychology, weights/core exercises, hills & form drills, metabolism & nutrition, etc. I was also able to share my collection of classic IAAF World XC Championship VHS tapes, (Lynn Jennings, '90, '91', '92, Craig Virgin, '80) during freetime.

I thought I'd mention this camp on this board in case anyone wants to plan ahead for next summer. FCA would be a a great way to not just get ready for the upcoming XC season, but also to praise God and share fellowship with some runners who have a heart for the Lord.
