Results of the Cross-Country Survey on Holmdel Park

385 Schools state they have cross-country; 193 would be a majority, which was required by the instructions from the cross-country committee.

319 (83%) schools with cross-country voted

177 (46% of the schools with cross-country) voted yes to make the change or 55% of those voting

142 (37% of the schools with cross-country) voted no to keep the meets at the park or 45% of those voting.

Since the majority of the schools with cross-country did not approve of the move, the issue will not be pursued any further (that is, it will not be brought before the NJSIAA Program Review Committee, the next step required for implementation.)

I have to imagine that this will come up again and again until the meet is moved.

wow, I have to admit this was way closer than I thought it would be ,well over 100 other schools than Morris County seem to have wanted this moved also??

btw- did anyone see the manner in which the proposal was queried? ...kind of misleading- I wasn't sure that I voted for the proper thing so I hand wrote- 'stay at Holmdel'.

You have to wonder, since they at least conceptually linked expanding the qualifiers with moving out of Holmdel, which the 177 dissenters were voting for - moving or expanding (or both).

Joe- I'm telling you- the chads were hung- the Yes and No were confusing in the manner they were posed. can anyone post the vote sheet?

I have it at home. I can post it tonight.

So 66 schools with cross country did not vote but if they took only the voting schools the MOC's would have been moved!

If 16 of those 66 schools voted to leave Holmdel the MOC's would be at Thompson Park.

That is bizarre, good thing Blackbeard made his choice clear, I think that's hysterical by the way.

So? a clear disproportionate amount of the NON Voters on the low side could have voted for the move and it would have gone through, that is even wilder, makes me wonder like Blackbeard alluded to, if eeryone even understood the voted on issue(s)?

wow, while many think the voters FOR the move are less than informed?

There sure were a ton of them?

Just a guess on my part, but I think that many of the voters might actually have been voting for allowing for more qualifiers which is as absurd as moving from Holmdel.

Here is what they voted on:
PROPOSAL
IF the majority of schools with cross-country approve, the Meet of Champions would be moved to Thompson Park in Middlesex County which can accomodate many more runners at the start. If and only if, the site of the meet were at Thompson Park, then five more wild cards teams and 10 more wild card individuals would advance to the Meet of Champions. The Group Meets would remain at Holmdel Park.
